Description: We are a traditional British fish and chip restaurant and takeaway. Serving premium cuts of cod, haddock and plaice, all served in our own special crispy batter. “Disappointing”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

Used to be a great fish and chip shop so not sure what has happened. Chips are no longer crisp and fish batter over cooked on the outside but mushy on the inside. I like to support local businesses but will have to give this a miss for a while.

We are very disappointed that you had such a poor experience. We are working very hard to ensure that our food is of the highest standard and CONSISTENTLY high standard and that is obviously not yet the case. Feedback is all important and helps us to improve. I urge all of our customers to come back and tell us if they are unhappy with what we served, and please, please bring the food back so that we can see exactly what the issue is and of course refund your money. I do hope you visit again and that you have a better experience more in keeping with the feedback we get from the majority of our customers.

“uninspiring”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

We decided to eat in at the fish bar today and found the whole experience disappointing. the service was fast but then the place was empty. when are food arrived, my Scampi was overcooked as were my husbands fish cakes and not the best chips we've had. The staff were very pleasant but I don't feel it was value for money.

“Always very reliable”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

No trip to lymington is complete without fish and chips eaten al fresco on the quayside.
Best fish and chips come from The fish and chip shop at 130 the high street
Always open
Always excellent quality
Always wide range freshly cooked
Always exceed expectations
Take away or eat in

“What is the point of a Chippy that can't make a decent chip?”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

Lousy Chips. "Earthy" tasting potatoes used.
Whole family disappointed. Went to the bin.
What is the point of a Chippy that can't make a decent chip?
I suppose the point is a short term view of profit from using a cheap, unsuitable potato variety. Identical to the “Tres Bon” Chip shop at Milford Road, Pennington. Are they the same business?
Friendly service.....but what is the point if they can't cook a chip?
We live in Lymington.... but now we have to go to Ashley's New Milton (or better yet Captain Cod @ Christchurch) for good chips.
The owners should speak to the Captain Cod @ Christchurch to learn the basics of their profession.
Better still go and buy some there & learn.

We took over this shop in March and have made many improvements. It was in a very poor state and reputation for good food non-existent and we have come a long way in a few months. But we are still learning and one lesson this year was that the British potatoes throughout May to early June are very poor quality. We did our best to source better without any success. But that is a lesson learned. We can assure you that we use the best ingredients we can regardless of cost and impact on the profit margin. Our cod costs us around 40% more than the cod used by the previous owner. If at any time in the future you have a similar experience please, please return the food and get a refund. Seeing the issue is the only way we an proactively address any issue. We hope you return and enjoy the food quality that most of our customers say they enjoy
