Description: The oldest pub in the New Forest, the Fleur resides in the beautiful village of Pilley just outside Lymington. Serving excellent local ales, wines and spirits, the Fleur-de-Lys first pint being served can be traced back to 1096 and with a list of landlords beginning in 1498. As well as being a pub rich in history, shes also one of the prettiest, smothered under a hugely thick thatched roof, massive stone walls and with a dovecote and water well in the rear garden. The beautifully refurbished interior is traditional, welcoming and serene. A rustic busy bar at one end, main restaurant, seating around 30 in the center and a sung room further on which is ideal for private dining or large groups. Huge open inglenook fires in each room means this will the place to be in the midst of the winter. All food is freshly, locally sourced and prepared onsite. Talented chefs produce dishes classic in style and rich flavour. Puddings are a specialty and we have some wonderful cheeses for the fromage fans. Sunday lunches will be traditional roasts, west county ribs of beef and succulent welsh lamb. We do not have seperate menu for children but any dish can be prepared as a smaller portion. Dogs welcome in the bar and garden. We look forward to welcoming everyone to this fabulous grand old lady of the forest.

“Wow what a find - best sandwich ever!”
Reviewed 2 March 2014

Followed the signs off the main road and stumbled upon this great rural pub. Friendly staff and service was efficient. As we were eating later on in the day, we just shared a sandwich, however if was by far the best sandwich I have ever eaten..Bread was fresh and tasty and filling was delicious ...keep doing what you are doing, The menu was varied and offered a great range of choice. We had just left another pub as we felt it was lacking something, but this pub certainly made up for it. I understand that there is some dispute with the brewery which I think accounts for the lack of ale options, however I understand from talking to the landlord that now the local media have picked up on the story the brewery have suddenly become more cooperative! Definitely worth a visit

“A Nice Welcome”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

As a local to Boldre the Fleur de Lys used to be one of my favourite haunts for drinks. It is nice to report that the Fleur de Lys is back up to that standard and far exceeds what I was expecting when the new landlords took over.

Ringwood ales on offer are very good, reasonably priced for the area and always very clear. It is however sometimes too cold, but some people prefer it slightly colder.

The redecoration of the inside has gone well, with some interesting features and nice comfy sofas. Roaring log fire in the main restaurant area very nice along with the wood burning stove in the bar area are a couple of very nice touches.

I am yet to eat here, but having speaking with friends and other villagers, what I have heard is all very positive.

“Good food, but to pricey for the pib”
Reviewed 16 February 2014 via mobile

Lovely little pub, the food was very good but it was very over priced, the pub needs to lower the prices and they will attract a lot more custom.

Thank you for your review we are glad you enjoyed your meals we will take your advise about are prices under advisement. We are not very overpriced compared to over new forest pubs in the area but will look at are menu and adjust are menu prices accordingly. We hope you will use the fleur de lys in the future.

“Mixed feelings”
Reviewed 9 February 2014

Main meals were good but pudding was not up to school dinner standard. Very limited selection of bitters, actually just one! Log fire a definite plus but we have been here under three different managements. Will this one succeed where others failed? We hope so as it is a lovely location.

“Warm Welcome & Good Food ”
Reviewed 8 February 2014 via mobile

First visit to the Fleur De Lys, extremely warm welcome by Diane who makes sure everyone is looked after. Mix of locals and visitors to the area. Good choice of food, however be careful as some of the portions are big.

Diane and her chef give honest recommendations. Good pub food at reasonable prices. Worth making a reservation.
