“Mothers Day Lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2014

Six of us went to the Angel and Blue Pig for lunch. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a most pleasant window table overlooking the rear courtyard. I had not been to the Angel since before their makeover. What an improvement! The decorations are in keeping with this old coaching inn and the bar area is extremely comfortable. The menu was interesting and the food was well presented and very tasty. The wine list is good and some of us particularly enjoyed their own beer brewed for them by our local Ringwood Brewery. The staff were friendly and efficient. We could not have had a better lunch and are looking forward to another visit.

We called in for a late morning snack in this attractive pub-with-rooms in the main street in Lymington. Despite there being only a couple of other tables occupied, the service was extremely slow, though a waiter had time to chat to other people. There were newspapers to read while we waited. The food, when it came was beautifully cooked, though a little mean with the portions. We were given a card that offered a drink at the bar if you stayed there three times and I think they look after returning customers and local residents better than going all out to make an impression on newcomers. We shall return though and enjoy a stay there next time.

Short break out of season in Lymington. The hotel is in the middle of this lovely town in the New Forest. There is free parking behind. You can walk out to the end of the river and all the way to Hurst Castle with views of the solent and past the needles. The town is delightfully lacking in big high street names and mainly small lndependent and therefore unique shopping and eating. The hotel is very comfortable ad great value for money. The bonus was the dinner at the hotel which was the best meal we have ever eaten in Lymington. The menu is full of home made dishes and so tasty. Would we recommend this hotel, well we will be returning!

Room Tip: Stay at the back for total peace but the front for a sunny room with views of the street.

What a lovely experience two nights at the Angel & Blue pig.
Friendly efficient staff, lovely comfortable stylish rooms. fantastic food. Comfortable bar with open fire. All you need for a short break. We will go again can't wait!!

Only downside but this did not spoil our enjoyment. We had a poor shower in our room. A Nespresso coffee machine in the bedroom and a costa style coffee machine for breakfast. would be an added bonus we didn't like the filter coffee on offer I'm afraid. The noise others have pointed out on the High street was of no concern and shouldn't be if you have chosen this location..

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a power shower and if you have a high street room take ear plugs.

A very impromptu night away, the hotel is central to the town with parking, we checked in and were shown to our room (don't happen that often these days) the room was superb, we all see the pictures on the web but it was as pictured, very clean, every facility we needed, we booked a table for an evening meal, the menu was interesting, the food we had was superb, the price was good, the service was very attentive, we all enjoyed the variety of the food, we returned to our room, slept well, slight early awakening by the market setting up, but booking a room in a town what more can you expect, breakfast was superb, again the service was much more than expected, we will return next time we are in town

We stayed here on Sunday for one night and from the beginning it was a problem just to locate the parking, which is to the rear of the building. If you didn't get a confirmation email which gave you the key code for the electronic barrier then straight away you were in trouble like we found.
Luckily there was a local resident who opened the barrier as the car park is shared with business and resident parking. First impressions of the angel were very impressive, the décor is classic modern with a rustic touch. We arrived a little early for check in and had a drink in the main bar area. The staff were a little rushed which was understandable as it was a Sunday lunchtime and quite a few people were there. I managed to get a pint of ale, but they totally forgot about my wife's latte so I had to remind the barman! After finishing our drinks we checked in and then escorted to our room. We booked a deluxe double room which was situated to the front of the building overlooking the high-street. I believe they named the rooms after ark angels, ours was Michael. The room was quite large with a fire place, very nicely decorated with nautical style light fittings, rustic style side tables and wardrobe. Very impressive indeed, the only problem we had with our room it overlooked the high-street so obviously your going to have noise, but also the walls seem to be very thin, as you could hear the other residents walking around their rooms. In the morning I was awoken to the beer lorry unloading barrels right outside our window which when you haven't slept well in the first place again is not great !! I must say, even though I didn't sleep very well my wife said it was the most comfortable bed she's slept in and she had no problems sleeping. When we had breakfast that morning I overheard another resident complaining about the noise and asking to be moved to a room at the rear of the building, which if we stayed again this is what we would do.
In the end they refunded us £10 for the room which was nice, the lady who did this was very apologetic and sincere.

Room Tip: choose a room to the rear of the building

Thank you very much for your recent review. We very much appreciate your comments on the room and I do apologise for the noise on the high street - I do believe a delivery that morning was a lot earlier than it should have been. We do strive to make our guests as comfortable as we can and we hope to see you again sometime in the near future.
