We visited this pub twice during our week-long break in Lymington, as it was just around the corner. The food was very good, with immense (but too large) food portions. Don't order a starter each - agree on one between the two of you.
At dinner, I had the excellent, tender pork belly, while our friends had the yummy lamb shanks and the barbecued pork ribs. Everyone enjoyed their dinner and the service from our Kiwi server was friendly and polite.
The pub appears to have a large local clientele, which is a good sign. However, this means that visitors and tourists get somehow treated as second-best. Read similar views here in TripAdvisor in this regard. I will not good so far as they did. There was no rudeness at all, but there is definitely a slight snooty air and the faint impression that we really don't need you tourists here, as long as we have our steady local trade.
Maybe a little awareness training here and a change of attitude would help. This has to be led from the top.
