“Nice Lunch In The Lounge Bar”
Reviewed 23 August 2013

We had lunch in the Lounge Bar whilst entertaining our two Grandchildren for the day. The six year old said upon entering that this was a posh hotel. She is easily pleased and from her experience it was! We all had sandwiches served with a small salad and coleslaw and shared a portion of chips which to be honest was not required. The sandwiches were delicious, served on wholemeal bread.
The toilets were clean and tidy and our eight year old loved the automatic towel dispenser especially when she said that it could be operated by waving her shoulder at it!

We stayed at The Victoria for 3 nights for a mini summer break. The hotel itself is pretty good. They seem to have a modernizing plan in place. We had a seaview room which was good. Clean and tidy. The bottles of water are a nice touch.

Breakfast if a bit hit and miss !! The food items are fine but the service if a bit lapse. You have to keep asking for items (Weetabix, Sweetners, Butter). The first day the tea and coffee was in flasks on buffet table. (tea not good from flask that has been sitting there) Second day we were served at the table in pots. This was much better. The third day was a mixture started with flasks but then the flasks disappeared and they starting serving in pots but the problem then was the cups were on buffet table !! All very confusing.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The setting was lovely right by the sea and the weather was great. Lowerstoft itself is tired looking.

Room Tip: Seaview is great

Hotel itself very good and Restaurant and restaurant staff excellent. Disappointed that although a long standing offer (2 nights bed and breakfast for £169 plus £20 off an evening meal in the restaurant) was advertised on notice board on entering hotel and prominently on the Bar, this was not conveyed to me on the phone when booking. When I asked the receptionist could I avail of this offer I was told that as the paperwork had been completed this was not possible (I had only paid the deposit at this time). Also the night porter, Graham, was a little over zealous on checking that we were residents. He asked for room cards to be shown to the camera as proof and made us feel unwelcome. He served the two people who were sitting at the bar talking to him without a problem. Would recommend the hotel but ask at point of booking if there are any offers and avoid the bar after 10 when Graham starts

My husband and I stayed here for one night with our 3 year old son. We were given a 2 bedroom suite which was wonderfully big and lovely for our son to have his own room. It meant that we got a good nights sleep and could stay up watching TV. After viewing the menu we decided that we would also book dinner at the hotel. The dining area had a lovely ambiance to it with a piano player. The food was delicious. I had the calves liver and my husband had the butterfish. The children's menu was very good and the portions were adult sized. The staff were all very friendly and made us feel very welcome despite them being busy. Breakfast was lovely with a choice of continental and cooked. It was lovely eating breakfast and dinner whilst overlooking the seaside. There was also plenty of parking. Our stay was one of the most relaxing we have had and the hotel was very good value for money. We will definitely be staying here again.

Shower curtain on floor, so left and went somewhere else! Receptionist slow, and didn't say hello, just served when she had finished chatting.

My husband and i spent one night at this hotel for my birthday on 20th July.
We had room 103. A huge room, very comfortable and overlooking the sea.
Had dinner in the hotel. Plenty of choice of food and a table overlooking the sea. All of the staff that we met were very pleasant, reception staff, bar staff, cleaning lady. Would return to this hotel and recommend to friends and family. Thank you for a lovely time.

Room Tip: Pay ther extra for a sea view room. Well worth it.

Stayed at Victoria for birthday. Partner upgraded as a surprise to deluxe suite 304. Lovely room. Jacuzzi was great and easy to use. We also had 4 poster bed in room, so comfortable. Staff were really friendly and helpful. This is our 2nd visit here, would decently recommend it.
