We decided to celebrate our daughter's birthday at the Crooked Barn having had an enjoyable previous visit. We were immediately made welcome in the bar area and had a round of drinks before dining. We were soon ready to order so were led to our table in the restaurant which was not very busy. We sat down and waited and waited and waited for the menus to arrive. Nothing, so we grabbed a passing waiter who was surprised that we had not had our menus. The person responsible had forgotten about us and apologised profusely. We found the food quite expensive, well served and portions on the small side, but apart from my home made lemon sorbet which ranks as the most tasteless I have ever had, our fellow guests we satisfied with their meal. We had also taken a surprise birthday cake to the restaurant earlier in the day but its presentation was not well handled. Overall a disappointing evening which had promised so much but delivered well below expectation.
