“Not a special occasion.”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

We decided to celebrate our daughter's birthday at the Crooked Barn having had an enjoyable previous visit. We were immediately made welcome in the bar area and had a round of drinks before dining. We were soon ready to order so were led to our table in the restaurant which was not very busy. We sat down and waited and waited and waited for the menus to arrive. Nothing, so we grabbed a passing waiter who was surprised that we had not had our menus. The person responsible had forgotten about us and apologised profusely. We found the food quite expensive, well served and portions on the small side, but apart from my home made lemon sorbet which ranks as the most tasteless I have ever had, our fellow guests we satisfied with their meal. We had also taken a surprise birthday cake to the restaurant earlier in the day but its presentation was not well handled. Overall a disappointing evening which had promised so much but delivered well below expectation.

“The barn may be crooked, but everything else is straightforwardly very good!”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

We've taken family members twice to Sunday lunch in the last three weeks and they've all been fulsome in their praise. The staff are polite and attentive from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. The barn is a spectacular building, carefully and appropriately adapted to a restaurant and the grounds leading down to the Broad are very attractive and well maintained.
The Sunday lunch menu is limited to four starters, mains and desserts yet it still manages to offer variety at a very reasonable £15.95. Table service is excellent in a friendly way and the dishes are well-prepared and delicious...none of my guests had anything other than praise for their meals.
The only problem is that they'll expect to be taken there again...but that's a good problem to have!

Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

Had a Sunday roast with family today at a cost of £104 the roast pork did not come with the stuffing as advertised and the two small loin cuts were placed on two small roast potatoes with a side bowl containing veg after eating at 15:00 we all went away hungry and we all had the small deserts so now we are all going for fish and chips in the town would not go again very very disappointing needs work to make this a top venue boo hoo

“Crooked Barn Meal”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

As somebody that eats out a lot and worldwide I have found a gem on my doorstep.

Fantastic meal, good value and a management team that is keen and enthusiastic.

Great for the local area.

I will be visiting again soon.

“Superb restaurant”

Nice setting good food. One of the few high end ding restaurants in a magnificent Barn conversion. Ideal for the wedding breakfast too.
