Well situated near Knutsford and Tatton Park, this guest house is pure pleasure. The rooms are lovely, the owners friendly and helpful, and the breakfast varied and tasty. I'll be back to this one.

I travelled alone for an interview at Knutsford and stayed at Pickmere for one night. My stay was very pleasant, the room was clean with a very nice bed and a clean bath.
Was warmly greeted by Felicia upon arrival and she managed to arrange a take-away breakfast for me next morning as I was getting late for the interview. I had a wonderful sleep and to be honest, overslept!!

And yes, I got the offer after the interview, so will definitely stay again at Pickmere Guest House.

Warning: I had to take a cold shower, but after reporting this, they immediately noted down the problem.

As a fequent visitor to the Manchester area on business i've found it hard to find reliable accomadation that gives me a late check in,comfy clean room and a good breakfast to start my next day.I've now found it in Pickmere Guest House....I stayed in a great room with a bed i didn't want to get out of in the morning superb ensuite and even ironing facilities.Combined with a great breakfast and friendly service all round. This is my new home when in Manchester for business in the future.I'd recommend to any business man who needs a room near Manchester or surrounding area.

A lovely house in a great location. This is by far one of the nicest places we have ever stayed and will definitely return. Two pubs serving good food within walking distance (The Red Lion and The Elms, we stayed 2 nights 24th and 25th February and tried them both). Very good breakfast, friendly service and very comfortable bedroom. All areas very clean and plenty of fresh flowers around the house. Free wifi was a bonus. Top marks in all respects and great value for money.

A small room(no.4) at the back, over filled with a mish mash of furniture and pictures that look like it all came from a charity shop. THREE sets of book shelves, desk and drressing table from the fifties, odd black old stool, huge old trunk covered by a grubby old tartan blanket.
The en suite was lovely, bed was really comfortable but too many pillows and cushions. As for the rest .let me see:- grubby carpets, grubby curtains. which clearly haven't been washed in years and even grubbier decor, wood chip paper with no wood chip left in it and not been painted for 20 years or more!!
Woken up at 5.00am and spent the next two hours listening to 'Olivers Army' getting ready for work, one after the other, room by room.
Had booked in for two nights but was put off by the grubbiness, the stairs and the noise from three different rooms.left after one night.
Not at all suitable for people with mobility difficultes.
Staff were pleasant and friendly, plenty of information for activities and trip.
breakfast : plenty of choice but just average. Ketchup served in a plastic bottle!!!!!
Welcomed my little dog. Doesn't mention there's a small housing estate built around the house. If sitting in the garden you'd be seen by everyone that passed.
Not worth £50 per night.... maybe £25.00 at the most.

Felody, Owner at Pickmere Country House, responded to this review, 25 February 2011
This guest and her small dog booked to stay with us on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th February. She mentioned that she had walking difficulties and we suggested our "garden room" which has no stairs and is particularly suitable for pets but unfortunately it was occupied on the nights she wanted so we agreed on a room on the first floor. On the morning of the 17th February she asked to curtail her stay as she had difficulty with the stairs and we agreed not to charge for the 2nd night. On entering the room after her departure our cleaners found that her dog had defecated in four separate spots on the carpet and no attempt had been made to clean them. The smell was overpowering. A contract carpet cleaner had to be brought in at a cost of £72 and we were unable to let the room for that night, which meant that we were out of pocket by £122 for her stay with us. No mention had been made by her of her dog soiling the carpet and unsurprisingly there is no mention in her review. As far as her other comments are concerned, they should be taken in the same vein as letting her pet use our room as a toilet and then complain that it is grubby!

We found Pickmere online when looking for an overnight stop en route to a family funeral the next day. The owners were very accommodating with our special requests regarding arrival time and breakfast time. Our rooms were cosy and homely, and we all slept wonderfully well, including our dog! (the garden chalet is ideal if you have a dog). The breakfast selection was comprehensive, and the full English was served very promptly. We especially enjoyed availing ourselves of the comfortable sitting room just off the dining room, where we could chill out and relax after breakfast. We were delighted with our stay, and hope to stay again, this time for a mini-break.

We stayed 2 nights to attend my brothers wedding a few miles away, the owners were friendly.
when we went to our room i was suprised to find many personal items obviously belonging to the family as there were photo albums of the kids, i felt as if i was staying in their room which was a bit wierd the bed was not comfortable at all i couldnt wait to get a good night sleep, Breakfast was not very good and no offer of a refill on the tea,
, however we found the location perfect and there was a great pub at the end of the road serving really nice food with lovely staff,

We would stay again because at £70 bed & breakfast it is very reasonable.
