“Rooms at the Top”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2013

After booking rooms 2 months in advance and being promised two chalet rooms due to special needs, on arrival given rooms at the top of the building (reached through narrow warren-like corridors). Furniture in one of room placed so you crack you head on low ceiling when getting up from settee and, even worse, one side of bed under low beams so bang your head when getting up in the dark. Windows in highest part of room with no visible view and no double glazing to help keep out noise form street. After complaining to owner of the establishment his customer service skills left a lot to be desired.

A good little find for our 1 night stay. Staff very helpful and attentive in giving us a quiet room in the annexe. Bar was good with log fire burning and along with a very decent breakfast "Did the Job" fine.

The car park was very handy, our room was in a separate annex to the main building away from the road which made it nice and quiet. The room it's self was comfortable but ready for an upgrade.
The breakfast was good and the young lady serving it was friendly and attentive.
If you are bothered by the noise from aircraft taking off from Manchester airport, this area is not for you.

We went in to ask where the 'private' car park was only to be told the it was unavailable that night. (it was never mentioned on the phone the day before) we were taken to the back door and told our room was somewhere up there and the girl disappeared we had had our room changed because we had dogs. If the pics of the other room is true we were certainly downgraded. It was clean but the shower went cold half way through the shower curtain needs to be cleaned there were marks on the bed covers and the toilet door handle had been fixed on (badly) with no more nails!!! We didn't get much sleep as there were people walking past the window all night.

Great location right in the centre of Knutsford with free parking. Directions – great; Check-in – great; rooms – clean and comfy; breakfast – great! Not much more to add, would definitely stay here again!

Stayed at the Cross Keys for two nights, and was made to feel very comfortable and welcome. We had one of the courtyard rooms, which was very tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, as was the bathroom. Bedding and towels changed each day. The staff were very friendly, were happy to chat to us, even thought they were busy. All in all, a very good hotel, and we would certainly stay there again when in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a courtyard room, lovely to be able to sit out in the sun early in the morning without havin...

Knutsford can be a pretentious place with several average restaurants masquerading as good ones. It would also lacks a decent Pub which concentrates on serving a variety of great ales if wasn't for the Cross Keys, which luckily is in the centre of town. Its got a decent sized bar and lounge area unlike other local pubs serving decent beer. Here you don't have to bend double to avoid knocking your head which for an over six footer is an important consideration when merry!

You go here for the beer and a warm wlecome. It has a range of great guest beers and a standard range of real ale which is quite impressive. If I drink in Knutsford I go here because the beer is well looked after and pulled carefully. The clientelle is also friendly and its a good natured place full of locals and visitors alike. It doesn't have a 'Slaughtered Lamb' feeling like a few other places in town as you feel welcome.

The staff are great but they will will tell you if you are acting stupid. So don't! I've never stayed in the hotel as I live localy, but I have had the breakfast which is superb.
