“Great Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 July 2014

You don't get a second chance to make a first impression......and the first impression on entering the car park was great. Al Fresco dining area outside, a pond with fountain under the trees and well maintained gardens....neat, tidy and well kept....a sign of good things to come.
The hotel has a lovely warm feel to it....informally relaxing. Reception staff were great, did everything Reception staff should in a timely manner. Always nice to see staff that smile and look as though they mean it!
Room was great, 4 poster bed, lounge area with all the amenities you would expect....with a few extra surprises for my Birthday! Lovely touch that was much appreciated! Obviously a very thoughtful team at work here!
Bar was relaxed and felt very comfortable, a nice mix of furniture, both modern and traditional. Mark, the bartender was more than polite, remembering our names on subsequent visits....a sign that he does take notice of what he is doing!
Restaurant is excellent and has been recently refurbished. Once again, a very nice feel to the experience. Staff were wonderful and looked after us very well. The restaurant manager, I think her name was Nicola?? was very attentive and Fleur the waitress was lovely. Handpicked staff I guess? The food was very well presented and very well cooked, I could not fault it at all. On both nights we felt compelled to send our thanks to the Kitchen team for delivering perfectly cooked food. Once again, a good head chef in control of his kitchen.
Spa area was great, a little busy due to the arrival of a hen party but great never the less. A good size swimming pool, Jacuzzi both indoor and out with steam rooms and sauna plus spa treatment rooms. A good sized, well appointed Gym was also available.
It would appear that there is a rolling programme of refurbishment at the property that will just "update" the decor and surroundings as, with all hotels, they do become "tired" and do need continual work.
Hotel is within easy driving distance of both Manchester Airport and Manchester City Centre, Trafford Park etc. Delightful garden centre right next door. Tatton Park is nearby and is lovely on a sunny summers day.

So, in summary, a lovely place to go and kick back, relax, pamper yourself whilst being pampered by the staff! A good base to use if you wish to be out and about and equally if you want to stay in and relax. A really great experience and will definitely return. Would recommend to anyone!

This hotel has a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the minute you arrive. Nicely tended gardens and a good sized (free) car park. There's a patio area and water front, and the trees surrounding it are lit up in the evening. On entering reception we were warmly greeted by reception staff that explained everything we needed to know about our room, spa and dining. The bar area has a mixture of old and new style furniture and has a relaxed atmosphere and the bar staff were happy to chat unlike some hotels! We were well looked after by bartender Mark. Some of the hotel had been refurbished already and some is still ongoing, although we didn't notice ongoing work whilst we were there, but changes are being made. Our room was lovely with a 4 poster bed and lounge area. There were a few special touches too, like a fruit bowl and hand written card for my partners birthday. A recent review mentioned noise from the airport however, I didn't feel there was any cause for concern and we were not bothered in any way for it to spoil our enjoyment of this hotel. We had afternoon tea which comprised a variety of finger sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, specialty ice creams strawberry cheesecakes in shot style glasses etc. There is a lot of attention to detail at this hotel. Booked a table for dinner and the menu had something for everyone. We ordered the rib eye steak which was cooked exactly how we had asked for it and we were well looked after by the restaurant staff. There was a selection of local produce which you could have as a starter or as a main meal.
We visited the spa which was lovely. It has a really good sized pool with a Jacuzzi and outdoor hot tub. Treatments are available but we didn't have time to indulge. That said we will definitely be returning to try these out! If I had to be negative in any way about this hotel it would be to say the air conditioning in the room could do with updating. All in all this is a versatile hotel and has something for everyone. We are looking forward to returning in the near future.

Reasonable hotel with good location and free parking. Rooms are comfortable although most are on the smallish side and could use a refurbishment as they're styled as if it's the early 80's (now where's my mullet...). Gym is great, WiFi a bit slow but free, staff very friendly, dinner expensive but nice and the bar is a very pleasant place to have lunch/meetings. When staying for several nights I would however recommend to go into Knutsford for some dinners as the choice there is pretty impressive for such a small town.

I've had several 2-3 night stays in Cottons when working in nearby Radbroke Hall and given what else is available in the immediate area would very likely return.

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay.

Great to read that you generally enjoyed your stay and the area, and the good news it that by the beginning of August the hotel will benefit from Superfast broadband connectivity which will certainly enhance the whole Wi-Fi experience at the hotel.

Thank you for you past business and we hope to welcome you again soon.

Small room, good gym and pool, food ok if slow. For the expense this hotel really ought to do better. Too far out of Knutsford for a stroll into town, so once you're here you're stuck unless you drive (and don't drink). Probably aimed at the business and function markets rather than the leisure market.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us at Cottons.

Its very disappointing when we read that a guest has not really enjoyed there stay. Our aim to offer the highest levels of service for the price paid and clearly we did not match your expectations on this visit.

I will of course discuss your feedback with our team as it serves as a reminder that we must try wherever possible to get our service levels right each and every time. We do get very positive feedback in general about our hotel and service, but I fully understand that there will always be comments and suggests on how we can improve from our guests that we need to address.

Thank you for staying with us and I hope that if you chose to stay with us again, you would witness an improvement in service speed and general standards in future

Best Wishes

We stayed sat 12th July for a family wedding. The hotel was lovely and the room for the ceremony was so romantic and bathed in light. The booking team were helpful to all of my requests and any queries. Rooms a good size, clean and nicely furnished. Service was generally excellent from reception, to hospitality - Laura on the bar was so pleasant and Brianna the toastmaster was excellent at her job. We had a lovely stay. Would particularly like to thank head housekeeper Ann Gillibrand who was so nice to our grandchildren during our stay and when I left my dress and shoes behind in my room by mistake, she drove the items over to us after her shift to save us a journey! This was far beyond the call of duty and in our opinion she gave outstanding customer service!!

Room Tip: All our rooms were great

We have just returned home from a celebration birthday Sunday lunch at Cottons, Knutsford , booked for 8.

When we arrived there was a long wait before we could order any drinks from the bar and then when we enquired if our lunch table was ready it appeared that the hotel had reserved a table for us for 3 and not 8, so consequently we had more of a wait before we could be seated.

When we came to order our starters it was apparent that there was hardly anything left on the 'Taste of Cheshire' section (despite our reservation being booked for 1pm) and so when we and some other customers asked for some more food on that section we were initially told that they couldn't put any more food out as they needed to save it for the evening! Eventually some more food was brought out and it was very tasty. However, those in our party who had ordered other starters had long since eaten theirs which is not very good timing!

There was then a further lengthy delay until the main courses arrived, the food was again very tasty when it did arrive.

Desserts were also ok, although my father's cheese plate was removed with all the other dessert dishes whilst he was still nibbling some pieces of cheese off his plate! When it came to the coffees, 5 were ordered and only 2 were delivered(without teaspoons!). The remaining 3 of us who had ordered coffees waited patiently and eventually saw our waitress driving off in her car so had to get up yet again from the table to further request the other 3 coffees in the order.

We did explain our concerns to the front of house lady and came to an agreement regarding the final settlement. It just seems a shame that the very tasty food was spoilt by the un professional comments re the starters and poor table service.

As a social outing we enjoyed ourselves but when it has been booked as a celebration meal it is rather a shame that we had to' keep tabs on the service' to be sure to get all that we required.

Thank you for feedback regarding your recent Sunday lunch with us at Cottons.

As discussed on the phone, we are trying really hard to attract more guests to our Sunday lunches and must work really hard to improve on the small details that makes us different to other hotels and restaurants.

We will work extremely hard to improve our levels of service and we hope that you will give us the opportunity in the not to distant future to welcome you back to Cottons to show you we do get it right a great deal of the time.

Bets wishes

I thoroughly enjoyed staying here for one night. We ate at the restaurant where the food and service was good. Enjoyed the spa and large swimming pool. The hotel is fairly near Manchester airport. The room and all areas seemed clean and the staff were excellent.
