Owner description: Gauntlet, Eagle & Vulture park is the largest bird of prey park in the Northwest of England. With over 120 birds of prey, ranging from the smallest owls to the worlds largest eagle and Vultures it really is a haven for animal lovers. Gauntlet has two daily shows at 12.30 and 3 during the months March-Oct and during the winter months weekends only. As well as our two daily displays we have vulture feeding and meet & greet. We have a large children's play area with plenty of room for picnics. We are on the same site as Fryers garden centre and you can leave at anytime and come back for our displays. For those wishing to get closer we have bird of prey experiences which are run 7 days a week throughout the year. This gives people the opportunity to handle and fly the birds.

This is well worth a visit, especially if you like birds of prey. I was given a voucher for my birthday and was lucky enough to be the only person on my visit. The birds are well kept and Shelley, who was my guide, was knowledgeable, funny, calm and very friendly and full of anecdotes about the various birds. There is a tea shop but unfortunately it was closed. No real hardship as Gauntlet is next to a garden centre which serves delicious if slightly pricey food. So birds of prey and shopping. Double whammy. If you are near Knutsford or Chester it is worth a visit.

This was recommended to us by a friend and we are extremely pleased we took the recommendation. It's only 20 mins away from us and I can't believe it's been on our doorstep all this time!

The centre has a large number of fascinating birds including owls, vultures, eagles and lots of other types of birds of prey. We took lots of photos so whilst you can't touch them (obviously!) you can still get close enough to take pics.
We stayed for the talk at 2pm where the staff brought out an owl, an eagle and also a little baby owl. They brought them through to the audience so with a couple of the birds you could even have a little stroke of them - I'm still amazed I got to stroke such a beautiful creature!

The flight show is at 3pm where they let many of the birds have a fly around whilst explaining a bit about them all. The staff are really knowledgeable and engaging, and the passion they have for what they do is amazing, and all the birds seem so well looked after, chilled out and content...which is a good job because you would not want a number of stressed anxious eagles flying around your head!

The only thing I would say is be prepared to duck and cover. When the birds are flying they can swoop quite low as they come in to land, so if you see an eagle flying at you, don't assume it'll gauge where your head is...just duck to be on the safe side!

Awesome day, great value as well at just over a fiver per adult. We would definitely return and spend longer there, having read some other reviews on here it would seem they offer more personal hands-on falconry experiences as well so I'll check those out.

Would definitely recommend it here.

Visited with my husband on Saturday afternoon 12th April. Amazing number of birds on display and such a treat to be in such close contact with these special birds. The guy who presented the birds, and later led the flying display, was so full of enthusiasm and love for his "friends" that he left us in no doubt that they were well-treated and respected. The climax to the visit was definitely the flying display. Having vultures walking around our legs and seeing so many red kites circling above was amazing. The naughty bald eagle eventually came out of his tree to receive our applause. What a treat we had. (Don't trust that goat. My husband stood too close to her for too long and had his coat chewed!)

Bird experience purchased as a birthday present for husband, but bought a family deal so that he could share and savour the experience with others.
Besides having the chance to wander around to look at birds in their enclosures, there were displays, and the handlers made sure that everyone had the chance to view the birds at close hand.
As a family, we were given the chance to handle a variety of birds, from the smaller to the larger, from owls, to vultures and finally given the chance to walk around with a couple of hawks. The teenaged members of our group had plenty of selfie opps with their birds!
The timing of displays with our experience ensured that the day was full-on. Despite the gorgeous weather, we were glad that we had our waterproof walking boots on.

We visited this centre and experienced with our grandchildren the "owl" experience, the public displays, and the encounter talks, all very informative, and very entertaining will be visiting again, and again. Exceptional value too.
