Owner description: Located in 1,000 acres of beautiful deer park, the former Egerton family home is open for you to explore. You're welcome to uncover centuries of history at the Medieval Old Hall and witness life above and below stairs in the Mansion. Wander at leisure through 50 acres of award-winning Gardens and take the family to meet very special rare breed animals at our working Farm. You'll love stopping off in the Stableyard where you can sit back, eat, drink, browse and buy. With over 100 events a year it's the perfect day out! For nearly 400 years the estate was the property of the Egerton family until it was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1958. Today it is financed and maintained by Cheshire East Council.

As national trust members we were astounded to be asked for £7 parking and £10 each to go in to the house in addition to our national trust membership. What's the point of paying for an annual membership when you then have to pay extra to visit. Very disappointed!

Thanks for the feedback FactsAndTruths,

Tatton Park is fully financed and staffed by Cheshire East Council, hence NT members are charged in some areas, including vehicle park entry and special events like Christmas. Contributions such as those are essential in allowing us to keep the estate preserved and maintained, and to allow us to run such special events.

Outside of special events your NT membership gives you free entrance to the Mansion, Gardens and 50% discount at the farm. It also gives you all of the other benefits that are noted when you take out NT membership.

This is noted in your NT handbook, the NT website, our website and our print however we're sorry that you were not aware of this in advance.

Really enjoyed Christmas at the Mansion. The decorations were beautiful and the choirs performing added a touch of magic. We then had festive afternoon tea in the gardener’s cottage, which we had booked online. This was delicious, all the cakes were home baked and the tea we chose was a special blend exclusive to the cottage. Service was great and we felt the afternoon tea was good value for money. Tatton Park has been a family favourite for us for many years!

The park is absolutely amazing. I loved it, the kids loved it, even the hubby loved it. The down side was what we found back at the car. Some funny guy decided to pick up some poo that i assume was dog poo and put it on ur car bonnet and wind screen. I reported it to the park ranger who laughed. Although I see the funny side now, I still think it was rude and unprofessional. He did remove the poo but wouldn't give us anything to clean the windscreen. Anyway, rant over. I highly recommend the park just not the car park or the Rangers.

My first visit and overall I was disappointed. Although the parkland and house are good it was expensive from the parking to the food - there will not be a second visit!

Hi sparshop, thanks for the feedback.

Tatton Park is fully financed and staffed by Cheshire East Council. Contributions like the vehicle park entry charge (much more than just parking - vehicle access to our 1000 acre Parkland, Adventure Playground, Stableyard area and more) are essential in allowing us to keep this estate maintained and preserved for current and future generations.

We visited tatton park farm with our 9 month old and had a fantastic day out. My son was amazed at the animals. The staff were so friendly and the animals looked well looked after. Great for kids and relatively easy with a pram despite a few cobbles! There is lots of information around that older kids would enjoy too.
One of the pigs had given birth that morning and seeing those little piglets was such a treat. Will definitely be going back!
