We had a comfortable and pleasant stay at this B & B, which is a short walk from the centre of Kirkwall, and so very convenient if you don’t have your own transport. The room was spacious and well-furnished with furnishings appropriate to the age and style of the house. Retaining the original shutters was a particularly nice feature. A choice of main courses was offered for breakfast – often not the case in a small establishment – you simply wrote down your preference on a notepad in the dining room the evening before, along with the time you would like it served, and our host Edgar duly delivered it with a cheery smile and a few anecdotes. The quality and quantity of the breakfast provided was excellent. Something about the house made me feel I should be tiptoeing around and only speaking quietly – perhaps it was its history as a manse, as the owners are friendly and welcoming and don’t give that sort of impression at all! Good value for money.

We had an excellent 2 night stay. Ruth and Edgar were fantastic hosts. The breakfast was hearty and good. 2 Dundas has a great old Orkney charm to it. Bedroom was spacious with its own bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Close to everything! We would definitely stay again!!

Just spent 3 nights at 2 Dundas Crescent and thoroughly enjoyed it. A lovely old Manse with a homely feel. beautiful big bedroom, extremely comfortable beds and excellent breakfasts. Edwin and Ruth made us very welcome and the house is only a few minutes walk away from the centre of Kirkwall with a view of Sy Magnus Cathedral from the window. Will definitely be returning!

2 Dundas Crescent is centrally located in Kirkwall, just up from the cathedral, and centrally located on Orkney, in the middle of the mainland. Edgar and Ruth were friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were nice, and clean.

I was traveling Scotland for two weeks, and I must say this was the best breakfast I had on the entire trip. I chose smoked haddock form the menu. Not expecting an entire fish, I also ordered the full cooked breakfast. It turned out that it included more food than any other I'd had. Two sausages instead of one, and also black pudding. And for some reason, the baked tomato was much better than anyone elses! I was embarrassed not to have been able to eat it all.

Stayed with Ruth and Edgar for 2 nights. Very spacious room with great shower and spotless bathroom - bed very comfortable. Edgar was our main contact and was very chatty with great sense of fun. We were catching an early morning flight at 0730 and he had no problem about giving us a cooked breakfast at 0630. The B&B is just up the road from the Cathedral so very central and at this time of year very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back when I am next fortunate enough to visit the Orkney islands

Room Tip: Had a room at the front and it got hot during the day due to the warm bright sunshine (honest!) in O...

This B&B is very convenient location for the centre of Kirkwall and the Travel Centre and it is a lovely building outside and inside. The proprietors are also extremely pleasant, helpful and friendly. Our room looked out to the street at the front of the house and it had an en-suite shower room which was a good size. The bedroom was fitted out with twin beds joined to make a huge double bed which was very comfortable. The bed also had an electric blanket. In the bedroom was an appropriately old solid oak wardrobe and a small settee. Coffee, tea, etc and shortbread was available as was a TV and a radio alarm clock. Being a grand old house the windows were understandably single glazed. A small 2KW convector heater was available for use to supplement the central heating. The usual breakfast menu plus fish was available (including full English breakfast, porridge, yoghurt, etc and toast, tea/coffee) served in a very jovial and friendly manner by the man of the house. I am certainly very happy to recommend this B&B to anyone with confidence and without reservation.

We arrived to Kirkwall on the night ferry and were delighted to find such a beautiful and spacious room to rest in. The host were very accomodating even though our arrival was so late at night.
The air was chilly but the bed was very warm, thanks to the heating blanket, and we slept like rocks. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the decor. I just wish we had stayed longer!
Location is great, just a few minutes walk from the cathedral. The breakfast was good too.
