Description: The Reel In 2002 the Wrigley Sisters returned to Orkney to live and set up their business, and in 2004 The Reel was established, allowing them to ‘put something back into’ the community of Orkney.’ "With both lasses having now settled back in Orkney their attention has turned to managing the ‘Reel’ – the sisters’ Centre of Music on Broad Street in Kirkwall. The centre has experienced phenomenal success in the few years it has been open, to the extent that it has recently moved to the building formerly occupied by VisitOrkney, next to St Magnus Cathedral. "Aswell as a being home to many folk & blues sessions and the Orkney Strathspey and Reel, The Reel also holds various classes in many different instruments taught by a wealth of talented teachers. The Reel offers and encourages a fully ‘inclusive’ approach, catering for all members of the community, especially families, and all age groups. The existing aesthetics, atmosphere and management approach fully encourages, supports and positively impacts upon this ethos. The management’s existing attitude and approach to providing a high quality and friendly customer service is also considered exemplary.

Music, coffee and lunch--what more could you ask for? The Reel is a lovely, unique spot in Kirkwall in a very interesting old building that is both restaurant and music store. We had a lovely wee lunch there after a long exploration of downtown Kirkwall, and thoroughly enjoyed finding this gem.

This is a pleasant pub-cafe near to St Magnus cathedral. A great meeting place. Service a tad slow but food was delicious I tried the soup and the scones. Really good atmosphere. There's a small music shop attached to the cafe where I found a piece of music I'd been searching for years!

There's a real bohemian feel to The Reel, which makes it an interesting place to dine. The food is good, prices reasonable, and they have free wifi, which is great when you're travelling.

Reel has a comfortable number of tables and a lively clientele. It's in the heart of Kirkwall. You can't miss it! Passengers and crew from visiting ships mix with locals. Everyone clearly loves the sandwiches, brews, coffees, and baked goods.

If you like cold, overpriced food and glacial service, then by all means do come here. This restaurant appears to be trading on the Wrigley sisters name and nothing more.

Dear Gail

Thank you for your feedback on Trip Advisor. All of our customers are extremely important to us and we hate to think of anyone having had a bad experience. We treat every comment (both positive and negative) extremely seriously and are continually striving to improve.

Our staff are trained to be polite and courteous. They are a fantastic bunch and are normally very cheery, polite, courteous and upbeat. We are very sorry that it appears you did not experience that during your visit.

As we are sure you are aware all our food is freshly prepared and made to order. We are extremely disappointed that your food wasn't up to our usual high standards especially as we weren't given the opportunity to put things right for you. Had we been made aware of the problem we would of happily replaced the food or refunded you.

We do hope that you will consider giving us another try one day.

Kind regards
Jennifer and Hazel Wrigley
