We stayed at this B&B for 6 nights in May 2012. The location could not be more central, essentially a block or 2 away from everything.
It has only 3 rooms. Ours, room number 1, had a beautiful view of St Magnus Cathedral and the centre of town from its side window. The large room was very nicely decorated and comfortable (with a new ensuite bathroom). There was even an assortment of goodies, including Scottish shortbread, on the tea and coffee tray.
A full Scottish breakfast was served in a pleasant room on the ground floor. We recommend the poached eggs with bacon and tomato. We were made to feel very welcome by Peter and his family. Peter was eager to answer all our questions and booked us a taxi to the airport, 10 minutes away.
We stayed on the main island for our entire stay. We took 2 day tours (both by Explore Orkney): an excellent tour of the fascinating Neolithic sites; a walking tour to Mull Head to see the wild life. Another day we took the bus to the port of Stromness (not to be missed), a picturesque small town with 400 years of transatlantic history (good museum). Don’t miss the interior of St Magnus Cathedral and the distillery tour at Highland Park (try to avoid cruise ship days).
