It's difficult to think of anything more to say.....all the other reviewers have said it all. We've stayed here several times over the last few years and would find it hard to imagine staying anywhere else. It's welcoming, comfortable and well located. And the breakfasts are just perfect. When we stay we always go to church at the Peedie Kirk URC just a few yards away....it is refreshingly simple and sensible; so for those who fancy a bit of spiritual uplift after a great breakfast, this is our top tip.

This is the perfect place to stay in Orkney; great location next to St Magnus Cathedral and 5 minutes walk from the harbour, lovely rooms, comfortable beds and superb breakfasts - the best pork sausages anywhere. Peter and his family are lovely and incredibly helpful, he even gave us a lift to the car hire garage as it was more than 10 minutes walk away. My wife and I will definitely be back to Orkney and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

We stayed at 13 Palace Rd for 3nights in May while visiting the wonders of Orkney. We hope to return and will certainly stay there again. It is well situated in Kirkwell ,cozy, comfortable and wonderfully welcoming. Peter and his wife are gracious hosts.Breakfasts were delicious .Orkney was a highlight of our holiday and staying at Palace Road made it even more so. Thankyou Peter!

If ever visiting in Kirkwall, in the Orkney Islands in Scotland, this is the place to stay. Very friendly family - the children are adorable, Stanley loves to play the role of bellboy - the rooms are bright and airy. Good selections for breakfast with reasonable rates, Great location across from St. Magnus cathedral. A definite must for your stay. Thanks for making out stay memorable.

13 Palace Road is an Edwardian home very close to St Magnus Cathedral. Our room was spacious with ample room to sit and enjoy watching the world go by in Palace Road. Peter apologised for the absence of smoked trout for breakfast but more than made up for it with a superb piece of hot smoked salmon paired with the best scrambled egg of the holiday.
Peter is a natural host - his courtesy and thoughtfulness are evident everywhere so staying at Palace Road is just like staying with a careful, painstaking but unobtrusive friend. On this visit to Orkney (our third) we only stayed one night but we plan to return to Palace Road for a longer stay.

It's an easy walk down to the bus station and the bus driver knew the place, so dropped us off outside when we arrived - this is Orkney!
