We ate and drank in the reasonably good bar all week but when I asked to use their free internet connection I was told it was for residents only – how ridiculous is that? Do hotels not realise once they have the connection there is no penalty for letting customers use it. We left and didn’t eat there that night – they lost about £50 – so there is a cost for them in lost business - hell mend them. Gordon

The location is perfect, the staff friendly and the room large and clean. Breakfast was good, especially the rhubarb marmalade. Both the cooked and the continental. On Sunday night there was a session in the Bothy bar and, since Iam a piper , I was invited to join, nice evening.

Booked in for 1 night and stayed for 2!. The staff were extremely very friendly and helpful. The hotel was modern and very clean. Breakfast was great. Having stayed in 4* & 5* hotels all over the world, I would rate the kingsize beds at the Albert as the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. Was definitely worth the money. Will be back to stay again.

We stayed for 2 nights and paid £115 per night. For that price we expected a boutique style hotel with excellent service and breakfast but were disappointed. We could not fault the bedroom and bathroom - both clean and modern style with a freeview TV. The bed was very soft. However, the cooked breakfast was poor - the bacon was poor quality. At night the hotel was noisy with the Bothy bar below. The staff were helpful.

Found this place by accident after being horrified by the Kirkwall Hotel and looking for an alternative. The Albert is everything the KH is not...clean, modern and warm. Everything about this place was excellent. Beds are comfy, the room I was in (205) was a good size, everything is modern and clean, and the staff I met were friendly and professional - just what I'd expect for the price when on business. Breakfast was decent and there's a good choice of evening meals in the lounge bar. Just generally an excellent place to stay. Didn't notice any of the noise issues mentioned in other reviews; maybe just because of my room location. The exterior isn't impressive, there's no parking (except a pay and display, which is fine if you're out on business during the day), but I'd thoroughly recommend this place for a trip to Kirkwall.
