Delighted the take aways have started again. Dinner treat since work is resuming for most. Missed my monthly visit so glad to get a wee bit of my normal back. Had the best onion rings again so I’m glad something hasn’t changed in the crazy happenings of reality

Another great stay at the Albert Hotel. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is hearty and full of local, quality produce. Rooms are clean and the walk in shower is a blessing. Saves having to climb into a bath to have a shower. Today, my flight was 'touch and go' whether it would fly or not because of bad weather and they agreed that I could return if the flight didn't go. Very accommodating. Will certainly use this hotel again.

Room tip: Avoid the rooms directly above the bar esp at weekends if you are a light sleeper.

Given the ancient location in the twisty alleys of Kirkwall this is a surprisingly modern hotel, that is spacious and clean. The front desk staff were polite and efficient but not overly friendly. The location is great because you can walk to shopping, and restaurants etc.... just a few minutes away from the waterfront too.

Our room was exactly what we needed, clean and well laid out. GREAT modern and super clean bathroom which as a pleasure to use. Decent water pressure and hot water too. Heated towel rails.

There was one down side to our room: it was located directly above the smoking area for the bar below and thus you could NOT open the widow without ingesting smoke. Even with the widow closed there was noise from the rowdy bar patrons during the football match. During our 2nd night the noise was less.

Breakfast was great as was our server Velma, she was attentive and friendly. I heartily recommend the smoked Haddock.

OVERALL great if you avoid the rooms near the bar smoking area (not sure but I think we were in 215).

Room tip: Stay away from the bar and the attached smoking area.

Our first evening in Kirkwall & all the restaurants on the sea front were busy so we were pleased to find this hotel had plenty free tables in the bar. I ordered a small pizza & was very disappointed with the quality but did enjoy the merlot wine. My husband had the herb crusted cod which was very good along with some Scapa beer.
