Spent 19 days working in Kirkwall and 18 nights at the Karrawa.
I had the disabled double room on the ground floor and cannot speak more highly of the facilities.
Albert was busy refurbishing more rooms during my stay so facilities will even better!

Hello Steve, Thank you for taking the time to write us a lovely review. We are pleased that you had a nice stay with us a few months ago and that you found our facilities to be of an excellent standard. We were indeed renovating and redecorating in our upstairs rooms when you were staying, and we are planning to refurbish our ground floor rooms over the winter this year also. We hope to see you again in the future. Best Wishes, Aileen & Albert

My wife and I spent a relaxing and enjoyable 4 nights at the Karrawa Guest House. Aileen and Albert are a friendly couple and made us feel at home. Our room was comfy and had a TV, free Wi fi and tea coffee and biscuits which were topped up every day. Breakfast was excellent and was served in the spacious and light conservatory.
The guest house is situated about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Kirkwall and I would certainly recommend it to anybody visiting Orkney

I have just returned from a great 4 nights staying in the Karrawa Guest House, Kirkwall. There was 3 of us who were up in Orkney for a wedding and were in the family room. The room was extremely comfortable with 2 single beds, double bed and there was a decent camp bed available too. Serviced daily. Room was well equipped with a brill shower, tv and dvd player, hairdryer, dressing table, fluffy towels, tea/coffee tray and wardrobe was very spacious so plenty of room for kilts and dresses! Breakfasts were fab, we had cooked breakfasts everyday although continental was available too with a well stocked fruit bowl, cereal, yogurts and juices. The breakfast room was light and spacious. There's plenty of parking at the front although we didn't have the car over with us. The owners were very friendly and welcoming from booking to checking out. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Kirkwall and surrounding mainland area as it was an easy 15 minute walk into the centre of town and very central for main ferry ports and the airport.

Thank you very much for such an enjoyable stay! :)

My wife and I spent three nights at the Karrawa Guest House while visiting Orkney Island, Scotland. Our room was comfortable, quiet and cozy. Our hosts Albert and Aileen are very friendly and helpful, and I enjoyed a dram of the local Scapa Whisky with Albert. The location is close to downtown Kirkwall, and all of the island's historic sites are within a 30 minute drive. Our breakfasts were delicious

The island's Neolithic historical sites are very interesting. Our favorite was probably the Brough of Birsay, which is a tidal island with Norse ruins, a small lighthouse, and good bird viewing. My wife took a couple great photos of Puffins and other sea birds. Be sure to time the tides properly to avoid getting stuck on the island.

Brilliant guesthouse! Albert and Aileen are really friendly and make you feel very welcome. The house and bedroom was immaculate, roomy, really tidy and up to date. Lovely powerful shower and comfy bed. Breakfast is great and there is a large choice. They are very easy -going and knowledgeable about the area and always have smiling faces. The location is great as its only a quick walk to the centre of town if you have plans for the evening without needing the car. A definite recommendation to anyone visiting Orkney! Thanks!
