“Awesome diving holiday experience”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

I have spent at least one week per year one valkyrie since 2008. The reasons I keep returning are the crew are amazing and ensure you are well looked after. The food is excellent and Helen will ensure she caters to individual dietary needs which makes a big difference. The crew go above and beyond to ensure all guests have a great holiday. The diving is awesome and Hazel has so much knowledge about the wreaks which helps when planning dives. Rob and Helen are always available pre dive to help with kitting up and there's always a nice cuppa post dive. Would strongly recommend Valkyrie and the crew if you are looking for a comfortable live aboard.

“Great BBoaat for UK Diving.”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

Spent a week in the Shetlands on Valkyrie. Diving was stunning, accommodation warm and comfortable, Hazel, Helen and Rob did everything to make the trip so memorable, that I've booked again. Oh, in case you are worried about food, nobody ever goes hungry on Valkryrie.

“First Time”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

This trip was my first time on a UK livaboard, I have travelled many times to the Red Sea on livaboards but never on a boat in UK waters. To start with the joining instructions were clear, tell Hazel what gases you need and that you are a rebreather diver and you need full board (the additional cost is worth every penny), one email done, easy. The boat is a converted trawler, clean, well maintained (no rust) and lots of safety gear. Hazel, Helen and Rob welcome us on board and then we loaded all of our kit (many hands make light work), of course been UK divers we had everything and if we didn't have it then Hazel or Helen or Rob would know how, who or where to get it. Once on board we had a full safety breifing and told of the sleeping arrangements and that there are two showers on board (apparently it can take some people awhile to work that out). First meal on shore so that Helen has a night off, after that we eat like kings. The diving was great (viz not brilliant, I did lose the biggest wreck in Scappa). Hazel gave very detailed breifings of every dive and she has a passion for this, you can clearly see it. We got put on every wreck on target every time. When we surfaced we indicated to the boat and you knew that Hazel, Helen or Rob had seen you, they have cameras and keep a very good lookout. Once on deck (dive lift) Rob always went off and made a hot drink, really great. Now I said earlier that we eat like kings, well that was an under statement, because the food was freshly cooked, freshly made and lots of if, by midweek my dry suit had shrunk and so had everybody elses, you then realised that you had to cut down on the food. In the evenings we would come back to harbour, adjust kit, eat, relax and then have a few beers, diving doesn't get better than that. Would I recommend this, you bet, I haven't stopped talking about it, the boat and the crew, even better than the red sea livaboard. I came on this trip with a buddy but left with 14 friends, could you ask for better.

“Best boat in Scapa and Shetland”
Reviewed 5 November 2013 via mobile

If you want it all comfort, good food and a welcome as if you were family them look no further. The experience of the crew shows through all are first responders for any eventuality which is a must when on a diving charter. A skipper who really knows her stuff drop of and picks are a dream with the lift and a deck hand who obligingly will get you anything you require if asked in the correct manner as no one likes to be treat like a skivvy and they shouldn't be. The cook who can put weight on you without trying as the food is surblime and there's enough to feed an army of you have the appetite of one. To some it up you can't get better than the valkyrie.

“The only way to see below the waves of Orkney and Shetland”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

Having been on Valkyrie for four trips, three in Scapa Flow and once up in the Shetlands you will struggle to find a better experience. Large dive deck with more than enough room for 12 divers and all their dive kit and shiny bits of stainless steel.
The crew will go to any length (give and take some) to make your trip an unforgettable experience. Safety is paramount and top of the agenda with a very in-depth safety briefing before the ropes are untied from the dock.
The only downside is you will have to add a hole to your belt after a week of eating the excellent food cooked by Helen (Not forgetting the cakes as well).
