Our recent 5 night break in Lerwick was made all the more memorable by having this beautiful, stylishly designed apartment to return to at the end of each adventure-filled day. It really is a stunning 'home from home' abode which made it all the more harder to leave when our 5 nights/6 days were up.
As other guests have already mentioned, absolutely everything has been taken into account to make this the perfect holiday home. We could not think of a single thing that had not been included.
Jenny has been very helpful with suggestions for 'must do' activities in reply to our emails in the lead up to us arriving, and Billy was a lovely welcoming host (apologies again for our late arrival!) being a great font of local information...the Fort Chippy certainly do make the best fish supper, thanks for the recommendation ;)
If you are at a loss as to what to do or where to visit, the hosts have usefully compiled plenty of leaflets and maps which cover all of Shetland and surrounding isles, along with restaurant and take-away menus.
As for Shetland itself, well it did not disappoint; having initially been attracted to the place via the super 'Shetland' series starring one of our favourite actors, Douglas Henshall, we were taken aback by the beautiful scenery during our long drives each day to and from Lerwick. Seeing the place on tv just isn't enough, it really has to be experienced to do it justice. We anticipate a return trip but maybe next time via plane to Sumburgh (the Aberdeen ferry trips were a bit too rough unfortunately).
Right in the centre of Lerwick, this flat has everything you'll need. It's modern and clean and the owners offer a personal touch, even offering to collect us from the ferry!
Fantastically located right in the centre of the old commercial part of Lerwick, metres from the tourist office, this clean, modern apartment was perfect for us. It is really well equipped and it's very obvious that a lot of thought has gone into making it a welcoming and efficient holiday apartment. Jenny and Billy were responsive, friendly and helpful from the very first. We hope to return to Shetland and we won't hesitate to try to book this property again. It exceeded all our expectations.
No need for transport to go shopping; just a few steps down the pathway and your there.
The harbour is great; boats from UK, Norway and Sweden.
The weather too has been marvellous! Remember to use sun tan.
Our hosts: Jenny and Billy have been very helpful.
All in all: recommended
This apartment was just perfect for our 3 night stay in Shetland. Jenny met us from the ferry which was really kind and helpful. Situated within an older building the flat is clean and modern, very well-equipped and furnished and thoughtfully presented. It’s the sort of holiday flat that gives you good ideas for your own home - I am now the proud owner of the same non messy salt and pepper mill set. The broadband worked well though we found there was no phone reception in the flat. Thank goodness for instructions as cooking on the high-tec electric hob was quite an experience for people used to gas! The location is very quiet and hidden away but at the same time right in the centre of town near the Market Cross so everything is within walking distance. The only downside - totally outside the owner's control -was that when we had the windows open traditional folk music that quickly became monotonous wafted in from the music shop’s speakers in the market square. Hope this family business flourishes.
