We live in Shetland so know all the Lerwick Hotels and over the years have stayed in many of them. Recent experience of others hasn't been great so we went back to the Kveldsro after some years since our last visit.

It is at the end of a quiet little road, you have to watch out for traffic with the jigh walls and bends. When we visited it was a Saturday night and they were quite quiet, which suited us. The room we were given was good, well sized and with en suite facilities, separate bath and posh shower with both normal adjustable and large fixed shower head. The room was quiet, no noise from other parts of the hotel or traffic. Bed was comfortable, all other facilities such as tea/coffee biscuits good. Breakfast the next morning was really good too; a good spread of buffet and hot menu with even kippers for those who like them.

I've already booked there for our next overnight trip to Lerwick.

Have a fantastic meal here with 5 other work colleagues, most had 3 courses all of which were absolutely delicious. Very well presented with ample quantities and a good choice on the menu. The service was friendly but slow, half an hour wait for the starter and then another half an hour for the main once we had finished our starters. Then had to go and find the waiter to ask for the bill. Would definitely recommend this place for a nice meal if you have time to spare.

A couple and an adult daughter- Two rooms--one with a good view. One with a bees nest outside window! One of us got stung. Windows open because the heat was overbearing. Breakfast was fine. One waitress had a difficult time of things. All the rest of the staff was very nice and very accommodating. In such a small town it might've been nicer to stay at Queens Hotel or somewhere a bit more "in town." The walk was ok. Shower was great!

Room Tip: It's nicer to have one that looks out on the water

The room was very pleasant even without a sea view with a contemporary en suite although air con in the unusually hot Shetland weather would have been ideal. The food and service is fantastic with dinner menu of a very high standard - the best meal we had in Lerwick by far. Hidden amongst the Lerwick lanes the hotel is very quiet with only the sound of sea birds to lull gently to sleep - we will be back to be sure.

Stayed here on a business trip. The hotel is a conundrum in every way. You get an old fashioned 4 poster bed and a minimalistic bathroom. at breakfast you get amazing lcally sourced bacon and cheap value sausages and bread. For the price charged, you certainly would expect a lot better.
We had an evening meal. Waitress, though very friendly, could only cope with one type of order at a time. Just starters, just drinks, just main courses. We waited over 40 minutes for each course. While the food on the whole was fine (apart from the risotto, which was a milky rice pudding), the service certainly let the place down. The next morning, breakfast was the same. It took 30 mins to arrive. Somebody asked for add toast and was told, that would be charge extra. For £130 night, you certainly would expect better. We won't be back!

Thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at this hotel. Although pricey for a 3 star hotel, facilities were excellent. The rooms were very nice with a state of the art en suite with the most unique set of taps I have ever seen! Peter and the female receptionists were helpful and efficient with Liliana and Gillian in the bar & restaurant nice and friendly. It was a pleasure in this day and age to be looked after in a hotel where ALL the staff are friendly & pleasant. Although off the main part of the town, there was only a short walk to the harbour and shops. Definitely stay here again if we are able to return, as well worth paying that bit extra for a quality hotel.
