“Best in Lerwick”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

Friendly staff, modern decor in bar/lounge area. Quite expensive but worth it. The rooms are first rate- four poster beds if your lucky and superb modern bathrooms. Staff were helpful and friendly. Food was again first rate. Not too far from the town center.

Having read some horrendous reviews of Lerwick hotels I decided to book here. My stay was totally fine. No problems, good food, even a bathroom with no mould!! Might have been my room but i will stay again. Not sure how to say the name of hotel though.

I was booked in here recently and was extremely disapointed with my room. I was traveling as a single and was given a room which can only be described as a cell. It had a single bed crammed in with a small dressing table at the end of it. The only window in the room was too high to see anything but the sky out of. The ensuite was very modern and nearly the same size as the room.

Very disapointing.

Nice hotel. Excellent bathroom with a great shower - very modern. Room had a four poster be (modern) with a seating area in the bay window with views looking over the harbour. Nice breakfast and dinner. Up hill from the town, but there is a short cut making it a 7 minute walk into town. Would stay again if we return to the Shetlands.

I stayed at both Queens Hotel and Kveldroso House during my one week stay on Shetland, and value for money, comfort, and ease of parking Kveldroso wins. We had the Island room which had a four poster bed, a good view and a large bay window which added space to our comfortable clean room. Ask for this room and you won't be disappointed. Ample parking is available and hard to come by in Lerwick. The restaurant is a bit clubby, but the food is excellent. It is a roomy hotel with a beautifully furnished sitting room available to patrons.

We also dined at Queens Hotel restaurant, which is a superior dining experience, ask for a table with a view over the courtyard. Our scallop entree was one of the best meals we had during our months stay in Scotland.

We visited Fair Isle by ferry, which was a beautiful remote island, although getting there's tricky to arrange especially in bad weather. We were lucky, the weather was calm and fair. We shared our trip with bird watchers who gave us tips on the incredible wild life on the island. People there are very friendly. We stayed at the lighthouse guesthouse and enjoyed great food and a most interesting tour of the historic lighthouse. Shetland was a great adventure and is worth including in any island itinerary. The overnight car ferry from Aberdeen was comfortable and the ship was modern and I felt safe with most their experienced staff and ship hands. Don't miss an early rise for an unforgettable entry into historic Lerwick harbour.

We live in Shetland so know all the Lerwick Hotels and over the years have stayed in many of them. Recent experience of others hasn't been great so we went back to the Kveldsro after some years since our last visit.

It is at the end of a quiet little road, you have to watch out for traffic with the jigh walls and bends. When we visited it was a Saturday night and they were quite quiet, which suited us. The room we were given was good, well sized and with en suite facilities, separate bath and posh shower with both normal adjustable and large fixed shower head. The room was quiet, no noise from other parts of the hotel or traffic. Bed was comfortable, all other facilities such as tea/coffee biscuits good. Breakfast the next morning was really good too; a good spread of buffet and hot menu with even kippers for those who like them.

I've already booked there for our next overnight trip to Lerwick.

Have a fantastic meal here with 5 other work colleagues, most had 3 courses all of which were absolutely delicious. Very well presented with ample quantities and a good choice on the menu. The service was friendly but slow, half an hour wait for the starter and then another half an hour for the main once we had finished our starters. Then had to go and find the waiter to ask for the bill. Would definitely recommend this place for a nice meal if you have time to spare.
