Trevor and his staff were great, rooms are nice and tidy. Fudge is great! - They are all more than happy to help or advise you on the area.
Breakfasts are great and the position of the hotel is good too.
Nice bar to catch a few drinks.
I would absolutely stay there again.
Thanks Trevor!

Thank you for your kind review.
We still have our locally made tablet (a Shetland version of fudge) available for all our guests, we are glad you enjoyed it (and I'll pass the compliment on to the cook)

I paid £80 for a single room B&B. Although the guest house is very pleasantly laid out - both public areas and the room itself, the ground floor room had a single bed, tiny tv and a view of a car parked right outside the window. The room was incredibly hot - they'd put a fan in but it did little to cool things down. For £50 this would have been fine but at £80 a bit over-priced for Lerwick. Breakfast was excellent however - the cooked food was v good. I also ate in the Thai restaurant - again the food was excellent.

One thing I really didn't like were the squeaky floorboards in the room above. The "elephant" above was up at 630 am and walked round the room at least a dozen times - really annoying - they need to fix the floorboards.

A further thing I didn't like is that the room was close to a side-door where people went outside to smoke. Not only was the door constantly open (despite signs asking people to close it) the corridor smelled of cigarette smoke and this wafted into the room. The bucket full of tab ends did little to help. As a non-smoker I found this pretty disgusting.

Thank you for your review.
We are proud of our ability to offer good meals to all our guests.
The Glen Orchy House is indeed a mid-Victorian building located at the top of Lerwick with lovely views across the town and out to sea.
We now have a new owner, better wifi, and all our mattresses are now memory foam, with underfloor heating to keep everyone warm in the winter.
We hope that if you were to return, that you would be pleased by the changes, especially as you would not find as many oil and gas workers staying here now.

My lads and I , a group of up to 10 guys Stayed here for the last 6 weeks. We were received very well and it suited our needs to a tee. Its not 4 star by any means but its clean, comfortable and the food is fantastic. They have Thai Chefs on site and there food is lovely. Good portions and superb flavors. They will cook to taste. There is also a set European menu daily that is great also. Trevor and staff, on behalf of myself and all the lads at Seacore, we thank you for treating us the way you did. Breakfasts for a hungry bunch of guys were a treat, they always started their day with a good hearty Fry. Myself, beautiful smoked haddock and poached eggs were my daily breakfast. Sourced local and cooked to perfection. Fresh fruit and anything that any traveler, explorer, holidaymaker, walker or like us Contractors would be more than satisfied with. Trevor the Owner/ manager will tell you from the word off, if you want it ask for it, if I dont know then I cannot satisfy. He is a man of his word. Again Thanks all at Glen Orchy House

Arrived on a horrendous 12 hr ferry crossing to be met by a lovely receptionist who gave us coffee and croissants. Room was clean and comfortable. Trevor the owner went above and beyond for us both. We were there for the Up Hely Aa celebrations, a must for everyone. Breakfast was excellent and served by a sweet lady. We also tried the Thai sweet and sour which was very good too. All in all I enjoyed my visit and would defo stay there again. Thanks Trevor and girls x

Stayed in the Glen Orchy for 4 nights during bad weather in January.
Got checked in with no fuss.
First 2 nights I was housed in a flat across the road from the main building.
It was modern clean and spacious.

The wifi was a bit weak due to being 30 or so feet across from the hotel.

The second 2 nights I was in a room in the main building which again was newlly decorated spacious etc .WiFI was good in this location.

The food in the hotel is Thai themed but you can order english cuiseme if you require it.

The food is freshly cooked to order and I found it very good.

The breakfast is also very good and you can order what you prefer.

Trevor the owner is very helpfully and will deal with any request you put to hinm in a prompt manner.

Stayed here because of weather and travel delays in Shetland and my employer allocated the Glen Orchy Guest House, the bedroom was small but comfortable with an en-suite, wi-fi signal was excellent, they only offer Thai food for dinner which might be a problem if you have stay longer than one night, but what was served was excellent and washed down with a bottle of Thai beer, overall a very pleasant stay and would book this place if god forbid I found myself to be in Shetland that was not work related.
