My room was clean very well furnished and in good decorative order. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice well prepared and I didn't have to book a time slot. The owners were very friendly and a mine of information on transport, sights and where to eat. If they didn't know they found it out. B&B is very competative and Fort Charlotte is up there with the best.

I titled my last review: "From here to Land's End you won't find better" and this is still the case!
I travelled with a friend this time, so had a bigger room but other than that, it was the same brilliant experience as my last visit. Very friendly hosts Lynne and Jim are enthusiastically knowledgeable about the islands and always ready with a snippet of information or helpful suggestion of somewhere to visit, say if the weather is bad.
The beds are lovely, the en-suite bathroom spacious, the biscuits with the tea/coffee facilities welcome (hold out for the butterscotch!), and the breakfasts superb with a large selection of help-yourself cereals and teas etc and the main course cooked to order and yummy. Won't need a big lunch!
Ideally situated at the north end of the main street, so it scores the maximum in terms of location as well as in all other departments.
Cannot recommend highly enough.

We cannot praise the Fort Charlotte Guest House in Lerwick highly enough. Jim and Lynne were unfailingly helpful: informative, courteous and obliging at all times. The rooms were perfectly adequate, the beds firm and comfortable, the breakfasts superb – they would not have disgraced a 5 star hotel with a wide variety of teas (the tea-pig boxes were there for you to choose from), fresh natural yoghurt and fresh fruit, muesli and granola as well as other cereals, and each hot breakfast cooked more or less in front of you and served straight out of the pan. Colossal value for money: the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Our recommendation is without reservation, and may we add: the Shetlands are a revelation!

We stayed at the Fort Charlotte for two nights and found it be to be central, comfy and cosy. Jim and Lynne were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed a bit of 'craic' with them over breakfast, which was one of the tastiest we've had on our many b&b stays. If we ever return to Shetland, this is where we'd stay again.

I chose this B & B because it was well recommended on Trip Advisor and it did not disappoint. The room was very comfortable with a large shower room and heating if you need it. The breakfasts were great and Lynne and Jim couldn't have been more helpful. When I asked if there was a launderette in Lerwick, they let me use their washer and dryer - a great help on an extended trip. The house is centrally located yet quiet. My only very slight complaint...and really it's not that ... is there is no parking and since it is on a steep narrow street there really wasn't much street parking right there. I understand there is usually a parking lot not far away but the road was closed while we were there. It was a bit of a challenge for old folks carting bags.

Room Tip: Our room was a corner one with a view up the street which was interesting.
