Lobby nice enough, checked in in between two rounds of golf, had to ask about the included dinner etc as staff didn't seem to read what Package I had booked - basics!
We stayed on first floor in room 37, decent size but very dated decor and furniture. Stayed in a twin room with two small single beds that were not very comfy but acceptable after a good few beers. The bathroom also dated looking, the shower was practically unusable mounted too low for a 6 foot person and the water pressure so bad I'm surprised I even got wet. Only one towel in bathroom for twin room booked for two people, after some hunting found another in a plastic bag in the wardrobe, towels were small but usable.
Went to reception to ask about the water pressure and was told that is how it was and is worse when everybody using it at the same time (everybody in hotel showering at 18:30?). Water exactly the same the next day at 09:30. Also suggested that towels should be placed in bathroom as I don't wash in the wardrobe ( might have been as good as the shower) and the staff agreed and said that they (? Maids) have been told but keep doing it incase someone uses two towels and the other person does not have one, which I find strange as I am sure two people sharing a room with two towels can work out it is one each no matter how bad your math skills are.
Had dinner in Jocks bar food was average, haggis Bon bons very nice although severe lack of mustard mayo meant it was quite dry, had to ask for steak knife which took a few minutes to come after being served my dinner ( surely first day training of waiting staff is to give a steak knife when steak is ordered), all round dinner was not bad but nothing to get excited about. The bar lacked atmosphere and we headed in to the Muirs in Kinross which turned out being very disappointing and ended up back in Jocks bar solely as there was no alternative unless paying £40 each way in a taxi.
Breakfast in the morning was fine selection of cereals, juice and cooked breakfast, again though nothing special.
Don't know how the star ratings are awarded but have had much better stays in premier inns who get the basics right - clean modern room, comfy bed and shower that works.
Played three rounds of golf, the courses in good condition and provide a fair challenge but would not be rushing back to play either of them.
All round a pretty disappointing stay and would not be heading back in a hurry. Stayed in many better hotels and golfing resorts with better night life.
