“Good Golf Resort”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

Stayed here on a 3 night, dinner, bed, breakfast and 3 rounds of golf. Room 1 was allocated after room 27 We asked for a change and fortunately were accommodated as room 27 was small with no view. Dined two of the evenings in Jocks Bar which was excellent. The fine dining restaurant had good enough food but very slow service. Reasonably priced, two good golf courses, suitable for the average holiday golfer, not too difficult. The Montgomery Course was the better of the two, though deemed to be more difficult

Room Tip: Definitely ground floor, overlooking court yard

Stopped for meal and was tempted by pan seared cod, new potatoes and veg with lime butter. Small tail end of cod which was minute, oily and tasteless. Reheated potatoes and undercooked veg completed the underwhelming offering. Diud complain and manager refunded the meal.
Won't be back!

We just stayed the one night and did get an amazing deal. Our room was absolutely beautiful - we even had a four poster bed. To be honest it was rather warm and difficult to cool down but it was unseasonably warm for Scotland so probably this wouldn't normally be an issue. Receptionist was very friendly at check in and we had pre booked afternoon tea. This was where things started to go a little wrong. The waitress didn't seem to have a clue - didn't know what sandwiches we could have, took ages to bring a menu and then the food - despite pre-ordered for a set time. She brought the stand but no side plates or knives - how was I meant to butter my scone? Pancakes were horrible and hard and pastries bought in and soggy, sandwiches and scones were OK. For dinner we went to the pizza place at the sister hotel which was nice and breakfast was OK but not great and the sausages were very salty. Again at checkout different receptionist but nice and friendly. Dogs allowed in bar area which is good for me.

Room Tip: Don't bother with afternoon tea

We were a party of lady golfers staying for 2 nights and playing both the Bruce and Montgomery courses. It was a great week- end weather wise so we were extremely lucky. During our stay there was a lot of praise for both the hotel and the courses. The staff were magnificent in all aspects, particularly at dinner. At first some of us were disappointed that it was the same menu both evenings but it was quite an extensive choice and interesting to hear what the others enjoyed the previous evening. Breakfast could be improved. The scrambled eggs were pale and uninteresting and the bacon was cool and rather tough.Breakfast dishes were exactly the same both mornings so, if you were there for a few days, perhaps rather boring. We were in a large ground floor room looking over the courtyard - very pleasant. Some things could be improved here- eg. No de caffeinated coffee or chocolate, no fridge, quite dangerous shower in the bath with no hand rail for the elderly and winter tog duvets which were far too warm for the time of year. However, most of us decided that we would return at some point.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback following your recent stay with us. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and would return in the future. Regarding breakfast, we are happy to say that we have invested in new equipment for our breakfast buffet, which, combined with new standards, we believe will enhance our offering greatly. Re the decaf and hot chocolate in the bedrooms, we will take this on board and review the bedroom amenities. Thank you once again and we look forward to seeing you again soon

I have just returned from a 3 day, 2 night stay at the Green Hotel Kinross as part of a 17 strong gentlemen's golf weekend. This is the ninth year of our annual golf break and our first at the Green Hotel - but it definitely won't be the last. The Green Hotel resort exceeded all the expectations I had when organising the trip. The hotel itself is a charming period property and yes, some of the rooms could be doing with a bit of investment but this was more than made up for by the quality of the food and golf courses included in our package. All the staff were friendly and attentive. They really seemed to know how to cater for a large group of golfers and their friendly service very much added to our enjoyment of the weekend. You'd be hard pushed to find a venue offering better value for money and overall golf weekend experience.

Our stay at the Green Hotel was very pleasant. The staff we encountered were very courteous and helpful, and the price we paid for our short stay was very reasonable. The breakfast was plentiful but some of the hot food was a little disappointing (green scrambled eggs anyone?). We were a bit unhappy with the room (room number 8) that we slept in. From the first day we had an ant infestation waiting to greet us in the bathroom, and during our 2 night stay, the infestation grew. At no time did we have open food in our room, but the ants were attracted to the trash can and anything warm (for example our tablets/computers and phones that were charging overnight). During the daylight hours, the ants were more visible in the bathroom. We were also disappointed with the noises in the hotel. Agreed, it may be a little dated, but from the rooms directly above our own, we could hear their water pipes straining and clanging anytime someone used the bathroom. Whether it was running water in the sink or bathtub, or the toilet being flushed, the noise was constant and had a great effect on our sleep, or lack of. I wondered if the guests above had forgotten their incontinence pants, because the noise lasted all day and all night. I can't imagine previous customers, or any future customers, would be happy to hear this noise during their stay. Perhaps i am a grumpy old man, but the noise really got on my nerves. I spoke to the receptionist about my dissatisfaction, and she told me a manager (either general or reservations) would contact/email me, however i am still waiting for that to happen. Overall though, our stay was nice enough. Stuart

Room Tip: I can't speak for all the rooms, but on the ground floor they appear a little dated.

Thank you for providing such detailed feedback following your recent stay with us. We are dreadfully sorry that your stay was hampered by problems with the bedroom. We are particularly sorry that a direct follow up that was offered was not followed through. We have this afternoon at our Operations Meeting discussed ways to improve follow up methods. I have managed to locate your booking and we will come back to you directly. However, for the purposes of TripAdvisor... Green scrambled eggs are clearly not acceptable. We are today in the middle of launching our new Breakfast Buffets which will improve the quality of service and offering. Your comments concerning the water noise are now being investigated by our Maintenance Manager. He is also looking at a final solution to eradicate the ants that appear intermittently. We will be in contact direct shortly.

The hotel was ideal for our mini-break golfing on the Bruce and Montgomery courses. Both courses were in good condition and challenging!

The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I'd give special praise to David who led the team in the Courtyard bar and Basil's restaurant. He dealt with everything with professionalism and humour.

The accomodation was comfortable and the food was a good quality. The only thing we'd all clammer for would be lighter summer duvets in the bedrooms - we were wilting in the June warmth.

Would recommend the hotel and courses for a short break. We will try to return soon.

Thank you for taking the time to respond on Tripadvisor. We are glad to hear that enjoyed your stay with us. We are all very proud of the effort that Andy our Head Green Keeper has made with the Courses this year. Thank you also for specifically mentioning David. The team are always delighted to be mentioned specifically. We will take your comments on board regarding the duvets....
