“Good, but not overly memorable”
Reviewed 12 August 2012

Didn't stay over just stopped by to have lunch with family.
Place was bright, modern and clean. Staff were fairly attentive (we were the only table dining at the time!) and friendly.
Sandwich and soup combo looked good and was enjoyed by others in my party whilst I had the haddock & chips which was tasty (but perhaps a little steep at £11?). Hubby & I both agree the chips were great and I'd give special mention for the homemade tartar sauce..tangy & delicious.
Overall experience was good but not overly memorable.

Stayed this week as a one-night stopover. Made to feel comfortable straight away by Christine at reception who also showed me to my room.
The people here couldn't have been more helpful, going out of their way to pander to every need.
The day was hot; the beer was cold, the reception was warm.
The food was excellent - try the lamb!

We travel to Scotland every year to visit family and in recent years have had the pleasure of eating at the Kirklands. My Uncle and Aunt are regular visitors to Kirkands and were very warmly welcomed by Anthony and Shona who know exactly their likes and dislikes (not that there appears to be anything to dislike) . We have always had an excellent meal, this time we went for Sunday lunch and the roast beef was superb! The menu is varied and the food well cooked. The service is excellent, the staff do everything in their power to ensure your visit is a pleasant one. The decor in the restaurant makes dining a very pleasant experience - we are already looking forward to our next visit.

We were up in Scotland attending our nieces wedding and the hotel could not have been more helpful. The food and the service are absolutely first class; in the last year we've visited many countries and stayed in hotels as diverse as the Langham in Shanghai and Paradise on the Nile in Jinja. Nowhere have we been treated better. It's an absolute gem in a lovely part of Scotland.

This hotel was marvellous. Service, food, room and ambience were absolutely first class. The owners Shona and Anthony are the most charming and caring hosts and are aided and abetted by a wonderful staff team. They could not do more for you and strike absolutely the right note with hospitality. As a group of 4 women on "girls weekend" we had a wonderful time. We stayed in the room with 2 bedrooms and a sizeable sitting room which was perfect for us and we can't wait to go back.Thankyou so much all at the Kirklands Hotel.

Room Tip: Room with 2 bedrooms and a sittingroom is perfect for groups or families. A home from home atmospher...

I've stayed at the Kirklands now for a fair few occasions. Family bereavements being the main reason. Each time the courtesy extended has been exemplary, and when we have chosen to have our post-funeral meal there it has been, dare I say it, a joyous occasion.

I have a nonagenarian aunt with whom I dine in Kirklands - and every single time she is treated like a life-long friend by ALL the staff. Such treatment ensures that we wil be back - again, and again, and again, and again.....you get the picture?

PS ask them to explain the photo of the fisherman to you - it'll make you're hair stand on end, and your tear buds well up!

Room Tip: Any - be happy!
