Stayed 1 night in the family apartment. Staff was extraordinary friendly to make our stay as comfortable as possible. My kids loved the spacious 3 room flat and we loved the homely feeling. We had dinner there as well and food was very good. They dont have kids menu but the chef prepared a special gnocchi and my kids loved it. All in all a very comfortable stay.

We booked this hotel online as convenient to Edinburgh and to family living on Loch Leven. What a delightful surprise. We prefer a family owned hotel to the chain hotels and the Kirklands is the reason why. Anthony and Shona and their staff will do anything for your comfort. They were cooking early breakfast for a Dutch crew working on the Forth Bridge and greeted us with early morning smiles and an early breakfast for our drive to the airport. There is no lift but our suitcases were waiting in our room when we returned later the first day. Although the building is old the ensuite bathrooms and groundfloor washrooms are modern. Our room faced the main street but it was very quiet and we opened our windows (we stayed during the recent heatwave). Kinross is a convenient place to stay for visiting or working in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth or Sterling and walking holidays around Loch Leven. The bar is exceptionally well stocked! The dining room was a real surprise; the selection and quality of food was 4star. We were so impressed that we invited a familly member who lives close to see for herself and spread the word. Judging by the other reviews word has always spread. Pity we live in Canada or we would dine there every week! The wifi worked well in our room too, not always the case in fancier hotels.

Do not be deceived by the outside look of this hotel. We recently had a fabulous night stay on a business trip to Kinross. The staff were very helpful and the owners delightful. The food was probably the best we experienced on our trip. The rooms were tastefully decorated and very clean and comfortable.

We were looking for a one night stop between Falklands Palace, Stirling Castle, and a longish follow on to Skye. This place looked OK in the other reports so we booked. It was a wet and blustery day and arriving at Kinross my wife was a little alarmed but the outward appearance and location. It sits right on the border between the good bits and bad bits on Kinross and does not do itself many outward favours. All this was forgotten by the reception and courtesy shown when we checked in and completely blown away by the supper that followed and entertainment by the host afterwards. I had sort of assumed "good pub grub" as likely but this is way way beyond that.

in addition the host and his wife, who clearly know what they are doing, have also selected some young but intelligent staff to help.

Unfortunately we may not have occasion to stay there again but on our excursions between Aberdeen and Edinburgh we will certainly be stopping for lunch.

Stopped off on way home. Ordered gots cheese starter, sea trout and pork. Pistachio brûlée. Service with a genuine smile, excellent food and a real feel good factor about here. If I was to be critical at all, the decor would not be my style for the style of building. Genuinely very very impressed with the Kirklands and will definitely be back.

Twelve of us had our bookclub meeting followed by lunch at the Kirklands this week. We started with coffee/tea and biscuits and since it was a hot day glasses of iced water were also handed round. After our meeting we were served a three course lunch. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Then more coffee and mints. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. A good time was had by all! Thank you for looking after us so well.
