Had been here for a meal previously and decided to return for our wedding anniversary - one of over forty years.

The hotel is a listed building and Antony and Shona are restricted in what they can do. They cannot put in a lift and modify much of the layout but tried extremely hard to accommodate us with our restricted abilities.

Our stay was extremely enjoyable. The comfortable environment in the afternoon whilst we relaxed with a glass of wine followed up with a lovely meal and finishing up with a drink in the bar, engaging with locals and fellow visitors.

Breakfast in the morning was excellent with a wide choice and was enhanced by Antony's banter - he is Irish and, in my opinion, has not kissed the Blarney Stone, he has swallowed it!

All in all, a lovely experience and we will be back soon.

Room Tip: As I have said, it is a listed building so there is no lift. Those with mobility problems should ask...

I have posted here before about The Kirklands and can only say once again how much my wife and I have enjoyed another excellent meal. Living locally, we have eaten here quite a number of times over the last 12 months and have always found everyone so welcoming, with the bar and restaurant clean and tidy and without hesitation, would recommend a visit here.

We stayed here on the first night of our tour of Scotland.
Great start to a great week.
Food was fantastic. The owners were very welcoming and the bar had a great choice of rums (my husband was in his element)
We will definitely be back.

A great welcome from Anthony and Shona. Lovely clean and modern rooms; with good quality bathrooms / showers.

A nice bar with some local delights such as Schiehallion - a great Scottish lager.

And the food - oh the food! The food can only be described as wonderful, marvellous, magnificent. its a small menu, as it should be, and the quality is 10/10; the portions sizes perfect and the prices great. Washed down with some great wines recommended by Anthony.

Last but by no means least - the malt whisky - such a great range.

I'm staying for two weeks in November on business. Thanks to the Kirklands, it'll be more like a holiday

We booked this hotel online, because of the reviews, location to loch Leven and to break the journey to Aberdeen. As stated in previous reviews the outside of the hotel does not do justice to what is a delightful, small hotel. On arrival we received a warm welcome, taken to our room and a full explanation of the hotel facilities was provided. The service from beginning to end was first class. The inside of the hotel was bright, modern and very clean. Our room was a reasonable size with a large bathroom. The hotel offers the same menu for the restaurant and lounge/bar area which is great if you do not want dress for a more formal meal but still have access to food that is of restaurant standard. The selection of food we chose was delicious and piping hot, again the service was first class and very informative. Breakfast was served in the lounge/bar area, a good selection of hot and cold food was available, cooked breakfast was generous proportions, the bacon was the best I have tasted in quite a while. The hotel has a small outside beer garden at the rear of the hotel with a number of bench/tables. Whilst quiet and secluded, a few more plants/flowers in this area would certainly make this area of the hotel more pleasant but just a minor detail considering how much this small hotel has to offer. The loch is barely a five minute walk from the hotel. We would recommend this hotel if you are looking to stay in this area.

Stayed 1 night in the family apartment. Staff was extraordinary friendly to make our stay as comfortable as possible. My kids loved the spacious 3 room flat and we loved the homely feeling. We had dinner there as well and food was very good. They dont have kids menu but the chef prepared a special gnocchi and my kids loved it. All in all a very comfortable stay.

We booked this hotel online as convenient to Edinburgh and to family living on Loch Leven. What a delightful surprise. We prefer a family owned hotel to the chain hotels and the Kirklands is the reason why. Anthony and Shona and their staff will do anything for your comfort. They were cooking early breakfast for a Dutch crew working on the Forth Bridge and greeted us with early morning smiles and an early breakfast for our drive to the airport. There is no lift but our suitcases were waiting in our room when we returned later the first day. Although the building is old the ensuite bathrooms and groundfloor washrooms are modern. Our room faced the main street but it was very quiet and we opened our windows (we stayed during the recent heatwave). Kinross is a convenient place to stay for visiting or working in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth or Sterling and walking holidays around Loch Leven. The bar is exceptionally well stocked! The dining room was a real surprise; the selection and quality of food was 4star. We were so impressed that we invited a familly member who lives close to see for herself and spread the word. Judging by the other reviews word has always spread. Pity we live in Canada or we would dine there every week! The wifi worked well in our room too, not always the case in fancier hotels.
