“Didn't want to leave !”

As soon as we went into Whitecaps we had a lovely feeling. This gorgeous holiday let has everything you need. The photos do not do it justice. We could quite happily sit on the balcony all day and watch the sailing boats go by. Clare is extremely helpful and stays in touch. We highly recommend Whitecaps for a truly relaxing break. Can't wait to come back.

We stayed at Whitecaps for the weekend of my wedding and we could not have asked for a better stay. The house has been finished to a high standard and is spacious and airy. The views from the balcony and the roof terrace are spectacular; we got some fantastic pictures of the bridal party from the roof terrace overlooking the sea. The bathroom is nice and modern and the house accommodates six very comfortably. It was so relaxing to wake up to the sound of the sea every morning and I would thoroughly recommend staying here for a lovely sea side get away.

We had a lovely week at Whitecaps, the location was perfect for quick access to the sea and surrounding area. We stayed with 4 young children and they enjoyed the lawned area for playing and watching the cows and birds from the large balcony. Would highly recommend it for a restful break.

A very last minute decision to book a holiday near Paultons Park (Peppa Pig World) for our family of 5. The location is unbelievable! 2 minute walk to the beach, and barely another person to be seen (even in August). We journeyed there morning, noon and night and just couldn't get enough of everything this beach had to offer. The accommodation suited us perfectly. We prefer self catering, and Whitecaps had everything we needed! Perfect layout to enjoy the most beautiful views, and although we were incredible lucky with the weather, a lovely recluse to play board games and playing cards even in the rain! Would totally recommend! Thanks to the owners for perfect service and a fab break away!

“Definitely not suitable for small children”
Reviewed 4 May 2016 for a stay in September 2015

My husband, son (10 months), mum & I stayed a week in Whitecaps in September 2015, & while the house is fine, it is definitely not suitable for young children (babies/toddlers). The house is an 'upside down' model, with bedrooms on the ground floor & the kitchen/living/dining room on the 1st floor.
All the floors are wooden, so anyone trying to sleep is treated to a cacophony of footsteps from those upstairs. There is not a lot of furniture & it is all 'hard' (leather sofas, wooden floors, table & chairs etc), so ANY noise in the main rooms just bounces of the walls and there is nothing to absorb it. As a result our son struggled to sleep, & we couldn't watch tv or talk at a normal conversational volume when he was asleep. It got so bad we couldn't even do the washing up after dinner if he had gone to bed!
There is a step up from the living room (about 8 inches/20 cm) up to the dining area, which was a nightmare with a cruising baby. We ended up having to barricade it with chairs and blankets to stop him getting stuck or falling off.
The kitchen is a galley kitchen, with the microwave in a built in 'box' at about thigh level....or exactly the right height for a toddler to play with. There is no feasible way to block the kitchen from the living room (it's a completely open plan top floor), so let's just say a lot of things got microwaved that week!
The owners supplied a travel cot, highchair and safety gate, and while we did appreciate the gesture, we couldn't use the highchair as it clearly had masses of dried food ingrained in all the nooks and crannies. We just ate all our meals with a baby on one of our laps! The stairgate is a travel gate, which again, is fine, however it is extraordinarily difficult to remove and replace with the frequency that is required when the living rooms are on the top floor. We had to keep using it though as there is no other way to prevent small children climbing/falling down the very steep stairs.
On the subject of the stairs, they are quite narrow, and steep, and do not have a banister running all the way down, so carrying a wriggling child down to bed or to the hall was difficult to say the least! My Mum has some mobility issues, and she also struggled on the stairs at times, especially in the dark.
Overall, the property was fine (as I've said a couple of times!), in a good location and probably a good property for a group of friends or a family with older children, but no babies! Incidentally, one of the other houses in the crescent is also a holiday let, but specifies that it is not suitable for small children! The houses are built in an Art Deco style, and it's lovely to have the original layout etc, with spectacular views, but just very disappointing that it was completely unsuitable for our holiday needs.
