“fun sea and the langstone”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2014

me and my wife stayed at the langstone hotel for a weekend break. we had terrific views over langstone harbour.we were on a bb basics which was great. the pool sauna jacuzi was very welcoming. room was spotless. complete with mini bar and chocolate. we were well looked after. by head of housing mary parnell and her staff. we have given them a mention because they deserve it. the food was faultless. breakfast faultless. hotel spotless if I had one criticism it would be we should of stayed a week. many thanks to all at the langstone highly recommend.

Room Tip: ask for sea view

We have stayed at The Langstone twice recently for the Weekend and really enjoyed both stays... The first time we went was to celebrate a year being together. .We stayed in the Luxury executive room both times and felt really spoil t by the beautiful view of Langstone harbour and the bridge from the window and the huge , fat soft beds ! The sauna/swimming pool and steam room was really enjoyable and we spent a long time lolling around here....
The evening dinners were exceptionally good and the service was just right- there when you needed them but not 'in your face' the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The young waiters and waitresses were efficient and friendly.
The bed- room was completely sound -proofed and we were not disturbed at any point once we were in it and could not hear anything outside of it. We had a very comfortable night both nights.
The breakfast....well - what can we say...there was everything plus more than you could need- hot food/ cold food healthy options- or fried foods- yoghurts /juice/croissants/toast/jam- tea and coffee. It was great- extremely well organized and run.
We are local to the hotel so will definitely be staying again.....well recommended.

Room Tip: The rooms with a view over the harbour and the bridge are superb.

We spent one night here to celebrate our wedding anniversary using a Travel Zoo offer. It was the first time we have used Travel zoo and stayed at the Langstone. For value for money I do think we had a good deal and we had a pleasant enough time but as my title suggest I had expected more of the hotel being 4* I thought we would have a little bit more luxury than our usual Travelodge stays! Perhaps we had too high expectations as it was our anniversary and our first night away child free for 6 years!

Mainly hoping for a good nights sleep with no cries of "mummy" to disturb us or wake us up at 6am. Actually had less sleep than a bad night at home! We switched the heating fan off expecting it to stop making its droning noise but it seemed to switch then to air conditioning and it was like sleeping next to a rumbling railway line all night. Even with the key card out it still kept going. However we must have got to sleep as we were then awakened by loud drunken shouting and door banging along the corridor. Some sort of wedding or function had been taking place (the hotel was very busy) and this must have been them all returning to their rooms. Again not what I would have expected.

The room itself was spacious and had a side view towards the water which was nice. The chairs were rather worn and threadbare though - more Travelodge than 4*!

The meal in the restaurant was lovely food but it all took quite a long time 2.5 hours - we were getting a bit bored. Although our waitress was friendly and polite we began to wonder if we'd offended her as she seemed to avoid us while others who came in after us - perused the same special deal menu - got their food, paid their bills and left way before us.

Breakfast OK but I had better at Butlins - underwhelmed again.

Our best bit though was the pool and sauna/steam room. Although we couldn't get at first as it was full - after half hour wait we were in and it was lovely.

Overall the hotel was OK and we had an OK time. I think it was more disappointing for us as it was such a rare thing for us we had a bit financial and emotional investment in it and it did not deliver what we had hoped. Sleep starved stressed out parents must be hard creatures to please when they do manage to get away but I think we will just stay home and go to a local restaurant next year.

In Jan 2014 myself and my partner attended tHe Langstone for a murder mystery night..........the staff were friendly and efficient........rooms were lovely..........the evening entertainment was fantastic and food was superb. The company completing the murder mystery evening were A++ and provided us with a fantastic no pressure evening. I would recommend as a nice weekend away.

Room Tip: An room upgrade is reasonably priced.

Stayed here for one night with friends. Smart, welcoming reception with immaculately turned out girls on reception all of whom were friendly and efficient.
Hotel is nicely situated with good harbour and sea views although if you want a sea view room this has to be requested. Dinner was beautifully presented, with an imaginative and creative menu which does not disappoint. Restaurant staff were polite, friendly and efficient. We were a table of 8 and the food was served so that no one was kept waiting on any of the 3 courses despite the restaurant being full.
Pool lovely and warm, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room are well maintained and clean. A good gym too used by 2 of our party. As I had booked this hotel for our group, I felt responsible for ensuring everyone was happy. I have to say we all had a great time at the Langston, great food, great fun and made to feel "looked after" by all the staff.
Well done Langston Hotel! An excellent hotel experience. We will be back.

Room Tip: Worth asking for a sea view.

Stayed a week here for business. The rooms all have a electricity meter in which makes a constant whirring noise- not very conducive of a good nights sleep. And though the food is very well presented, the poor taste really lets it down.

A very enjoyable night with one of the best dinners, served on a fixed menu, by very attentive staff who made the whole experience very enjoyable. We hope we will be able to return in the very near future
