“Nice hotel.”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

We stayed for 3 nights two weeks ago. Friendly staff, nice rooms and location good. Only criticisms would be how they can be a 4* star hotel and not have air conditioning. We stayed during a heat wave and the rooms were like ovens... They need to address this badly. Other observation would be that towels in the bathroom bigger than a postage stamp would be good. On the whole a good stay and the hotel is great. The swimming pool was great although the male staff incredibly rude! We took our twin boys and had interconnecting rooms and it really worked well. We would go back but only when the air con is fixed.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at the Langstone Hotel on Tripadvisor.

I was pleased to read that your stay was enjoyable overall. Unfortunately, like many of our competitors, we do not have air conditioning in our bedrooms. We have taken the decision to provide large tower fans in all rooms for guest comfort especially during our recent "hot spell" of weather.

I have noted your comments regarding the size of our linen in the bedrooms and have passed to our management team for review.

I hope that we are able to welcome you back to the Langstone in the not too distant future.

Yours sincerely

Stayed for a wedding which it seems to be a popular hotel choice.. Hotel was nice nothing outstanding about rooms but beds were comfortable. Had to ask for extra towells as not enough were supplied also towells were a bit on the small size. View from room was ok and over looked view used by wedding photographers.. air con not working but fans in room did cool rooms a bit but not enough. No noise from wedding's in our room 139 except returning couple in adjacent room arguing.. not hotels fault.. Breakfast was nice with buffet style service plenty on offer but vegetarians need to be catered for a bit better. Did not have a resteraunt meal but was advised they were nice by other guests. Staff at the hotel were friendly and always willing to help. All in all in good stay for the wedding.

had an overnight stop at the hotel in July. The room was very tidy though a little dated. Overall the location and staff make the place a lovely place to stop. One mention for the bed. Very very comfortable and an excellent nights sleep. thoroughly reccomended

which is kind of good and bad at the same time.

Our tour group spent a night here in preparation for an early morning Channel crossing. Our stay was paid for as part of the package tour so can't comment on the value.

The hotel is aging and it shows. From the outside it looks a little tired although to be fair it doesn't feel as old once you get inside. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was pretty decent, wait staff were attentive and prompt in their service.

The room we got was pretty spacious and roomy. It was on the ground floor facing the rear of the hotel and car park and although we could open the windows wider we left them set at the default 2 inches as we were on the ground floor, and this is where the problem comes in. The hotel doesn't have air conditioning and the room was slightly unbearable in the early part of the evening only getting slightly better as the temperature came down during the night. Apparently the airconditioning system was undergoing renovation but the hotel should consider that some of us like to freeze to death in the process of going to sleep and cater for that. And this was us coming in when the weather was still on the cool side, can't imagine what it's like the middle of summer.

Overall, the hotel doesn't really have much going for it. Its location seems a bit remote and removed from anything of note. The room was clean but felt a little worn, the hotel needs to do more than just renovate the airconditioning system. While you get what you pay for there's nothing that would compel me to come back here again if we pass this way.

though the hotel looks a bit tired on the outside - inside the rooms are good

plenty of parking - hotel was at capacity when we visited and other than a slight queue at times for breakfast buffet - the staff and facilities coped well

had a room on first floor with pleasant views out across the estuary

the hotel does not have air conditioning - but a tower fan was provided in the room

breakfast was of good quality

would stay again when visiting hayling island

Room Tip: getting on the first floor and either north or east facing will afford views of the estuary

We have just returned from an overnight stay at the Langstone, it was our second visit to the hotel and we enjoyed it just as much as the first.
The hotel is in a good location with views over the estuary and within a short drive to Portsmouth (easy to get to the new Park & Ride facility) or Chichester; there is a nice walk you can take through a nature reserve just over the road. The road over the bridge however is very busy and it can be tricky when leaving the hotel by car to turn right to go back over the bridge the cars seem to go very fast and nobody likes to give way!
Room and bathroom were fine the bathroom was clean and the bed was comfortable; a fan was provided which was definitely needed.
The swimming pool is lovely and when I went down for a swim at 7am it was quiet with only three of us in the pool.
Breakfast is very good with the usual selection of cereals, fruit, pastries and hot food. There are scrambled eggs on the buffet but if you want anything different you just have to ask - I had poached eggs and they were cooked perfectly. The staff on duty at breakfast were lovely - friendly and efficient.
Will definitely be back.
