“Weekend break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

Just back from another very enjoyable weekend break. Thank you to all at Sinah Warren for helping to make it so. It was my first swim in the heated outside pool though as we usually go on autumn/winter breaks. It did not disappoint and is in a lovely setting by the waterside. Nice selection of food, good service and entertainment team and looking forward to our next visit.

Warner Sinah Warren 26/5/14 to 30/5/14

The lead up to our Warner Sinah Warren break was very good. We received several letters advising the check process and notifying us of discounts available to us whilst staying at the hotel. We also received a telephone message in case we had any additional questions, we were most impressed.

However, on arrival at Sinah Warren, having followed all the check in instructions that we received, we were advised that they had been sent in error and we should be at the main reception and not the Concierge check in. Not having been to a Warner Hotel before we were unaware of the Concierge status for previous guests. As it was a Warner mistake, and we had two limited mobility seniors with us, the lady went to the front desk and collected our check in documents and brought them back, along with the booked wheelchair. Unfortunately none of the promised discounts were honoured because the letters had been sent in error; I think a good will gesture would have been more appropriate.

Bedrooms - We went to our two booked rooms on the ground floor which were both very different. My mother’s was the better room as it was newly decorated. It was light and bright, the chairs were a decent height for elderly and the bathroom contained a large walk in shower, and a real bonus was the timed emergency bathroom light. The other room was on a jade green sea theme, very clean and nicely presented, but dated compared to the mums room. The only problem with the ground floor rooms is the creaking floors above. We were very pleased we opted for the sea view; with good weather would have been able to enjoy the patio a lot more We were quite surprised that the rooms had keys rather than a swipe card and I would prefer to see a security bar on the inside

Restaurant and Food – The restaurant was nicely presented with several levels breaking it up a little, one wall was all windows which made for a light bright environment. Having looked at the menus on line, we had great expectations for the food. There was nothing wrong with the food, but it was uninteresting and lacked imagination. The buffet was uninviting because most of the food was in stainless steel buffet servers covered with a dome lid. A visual buffet would have been much more pleasing to the eye and would have made the flow of people more efficient. The process was collect plate, form a line, arrive at serving dome (small content identifier was placed next to it), lift lid, pick up serving spoon (or just use hands as was seen on several occasions), serve self, close lid and replace serving spoon on serving spoon plate, and then repeat the exercise again for the next item of food required and so on. Add to this mobility aids and it makes for a chaotic system and by the time one got to eat the food it was no longer hot. A lot could be learned from the cruise companies who serve thousands by buffet.
We soon gave up on the buffet, mainly put off by people who think it is acceptable to pick the food up with their hands. It would be more convenient if the buffet was served.
We tended to order from the menu, but the descriptions did not always fit what was served, for example a desert described as being served with white chocolate sauce, my expectation was some form of liquid, but it was a white chocolate pattern set on the plate.
Bar food – This was excellent and plentiful.
Entertainment - varied entertainment, dancing, sing along, bingo, shows etc., this was all good for my mother, although she can no longer dance, there was plenty of foot tapping and singing. The team had a tremendous amount of energy and put on some very enjoyable shows. The main gripe is that the entertainment lounge has large air conditioning vents scattered around the ceiling and when they switched on it was very cold. Check above your head before choosing your seat.
General comments
Wheelchair access was generally good, the entrance near the show lounge had an exterior ramp all the way to the door, but on arrival there was no wheelchair opening button which was very inconvenient.

The hotel was very clean, but did tend to have a hospital smell about it, which may have been due to the cleansing process. Bedroom cleaning was prompt and excellent by a friendly team. I was pleased to see hand sanitizers at the restaurant entrance.

Was it Value for money? – I don’t think so, for May bank holiday week, four night’s half board, Signature room sea view, we paid £675.00 per couple (£168.75 per day).
For comparison, my brother took a P&O seven night European cruise from Southampton, balcony cabin, full board last week and paid £998.00 per couple (£142.57 per day)

Would we go to Warner again? - possibly to a different venue and for a themed weekend, but the price would need to be good?

Room Tip: Some have been recently refurbished, so I would specifically request one of those. The dining room...

We wanted to take a dear sister somewhere special, where else would we go but our favourite Hotel and eating place Sinah Warren. this will be our 6th time and every time we come home with a lift. We book each time we leave and know where our room will be and our dining area. The food is exceptional in fact I named the employee of the month three times over as it was so hard to chose. the Chef who does starters and desserts, the waiter Shaun a delightful young man who would make any mother proud and last but not least Donna and her excellent team who delighted us with their energy and excellent talents. The shows are mind blowing and each day they are there to entertain us again with Archery B.B.Q. around the pool bowls and numerous other things. Everything is done by the team at 200% and always a team effort. We cannot fault it and you guessed it we cannot wait to go again. To cap it the Hotel is situated in a perfect place with sea all around, the food and cleanliness of the hotel excellent the food is out of this world beautifully presented and I must not leave out the Gardens - they should enter the Chelsea Flower Show where they would certainly get gold for best Hotel garden (should there ever be such a prize). See you there Rita and Jack

Room Tip: Talk to Pauline the expert at the Hotel, she was most helpful and chose the room that best suited us...

Have been to Sinah Warren a number of times and always appreciate the entertainment, location, food etc. This latest weekend was just as enjoyable - even though the weather was mixed we still managed two sessions by the outside pool. Ben Smith and the Entertainment Team are always very enthusiastic and their 'Dream Lover' show is very professional.

On returning home I realised I had left my mobile phone in the bedroom and phoned Reception the next day - they were very helpful and had my phone ready to send off to me. Great service. Thank you.

Room Tip: Signature room with patio and sea view - some rooms have longer walk to dining room so check where y...

Just returned from another visit to this great place. There have been some changes since my last visit, last year. The biggest change is the Coffee Lounge, it has been greatly enlarged with some very comfortable chairs and sofas accompanied by some attractive accessories and decor. A lovely place to be if it's wet or cold outside or ,of course, to have a lovely coffee !

My visit this time was, as always, excellent. The food good with wide choice, good entertainment and to crown it all the sun shone!

Back again in August--- can't wait.

Room Tip: Ground floor, patio is my choice but there are other rooms with views to Langstone Harbour.

My wife and I have just returned from a four day stay at this hotel. More than a hotel - it's like a cruise without the water! Wonderful gardens to relax in or to look at from the bar terrace. Great staff who go out of their way to help - always with a smile, a top class team of entertainers in the Pavilion theatre, very good food and very comfortable accommodation. It is also close to some very interesting historical attractions - we went to see HMS Victory and the Mary Rose in Portsmouth - 30 minutes away - by ferry and bus.
With views of the sea from our room, birds and squirrels to watch from our patio - it couldn't have been better. We recommend it highly.

We have been to most Warner Hotels and this one did not disappoint us it was as nice of some of their other hotels, the food was good, we had a signature room as we always do when we go to Warner's, it was very comfortable and clean all the staff were very friendly, the grounds were spacious too, and we will go back again.
