“Go for the Harbour Suites”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

Spent the last weekend in June here. When I booked a couple of weeks before the Harbour Suites were all that was available. When we arrived we were concerned because of the work that was going on in the Harbour Suite area but our chalet was great, obviously new, huge comfy bed, TV in the bedroom and lounge, lovely bathroom with big walk in shower cubicle. Nice little patio area with a table and chairs, unfortunately nothing to look at apart from some more chalets but the lake was only a short walk away and its was lovely to sit there are feed the ducks and swans. The work finished that afternoon and didn't restart until we were leaving on the Monday so didn't bother us, there was a letter in our chalet apologising the the work that was going on. Another bonus for us was the fact that you can park your car right outside your chalet and you are only a short walk to all the amenities. We shared a table for dinner and breakfast with another couple who had booked a Harbour Suite at short notice. We didn't mind sharing but I know not everyone likes to share a table with strangers. Bonus was we were right on the edge of the dance floor so got a good view of the entertainment. We found the food to be generally quite good. The entertainment team work very hard and the Beatles tribute act on the Saturday night were excellent. We had very good weather so were able to get out and about. It wasn't a cheap break but we enjoyed it.

Room Tip: Go for a Harbour Suite, pricey but worth it.

Firstly the good things-we endorse everything that other visitors have said about food, entertainment and staff, all excellent.
Now the bad things-the building going on despite being told 2 weeks before that it was finished, and the quality of the so-called Premier Lodge which was disgraceful, see attached photos. It was a great pity because the location of Lakeside is ideal. We too were blessed with wonderful weather and I would recommend a trip to Southsea and visit the D-Day Museum, awe inspiring! and also go to Gunwharf Quay in Portsmouth, the home of the Spinnaker,(you must go up to the top) we found this very enjoyable and also enabled us to see HMS Victory and the Mary Rose Museum.
To summarize, Lakeside is like Malta, it will be great when it is finished!

Room Tip: As I've already said, avoid Premier Lodges.

Thank you for starting your review with all the aspects of Lakeside you report as excellent.

It is very important to us that our Guests experience high standards throughout.

The building work has taken longer than expected and I can only apologise that your stay was affected by them.

I hope we will be able to welcome you back in the near future.

went to lakeside 20 june only to find it looked like a building site it was noisy heavy drills going banging vans workman everywhere shouting out. concerete being thrown into lorrys it was apauling. took my parents both 85, to get away from it all, would have been better staying at home couldnt relax for the noise we went for a week. weekend was quiter, but come monday from 8 30 it was very noisy, we was not told that this work was being carried out. discussted. but camp is nice when this is not going on entertainment good, weekends better, food good. chalet nice clean, staff very friendly, been before enjoyed it beds quite hard even with topper on as the base of bed is hard, would recommend when building stops its not fair for guests to have to put up with it

Room Tip: standard plus was more economical fair size chalet

I am very sorry to read of your disappointment. We have been letting our Guests know of the building works ahead of their arrival and can only apologise if you were not informed.

The work is now almost completed and we are delighted with our newly refurbished accommodation.

I hope we will be able to welcome you back to Lakeside once the work is completed.

Just back from lakeside hayling Island. Went with friends and booked a basic room which was fine, it was was clean and comfortable though the double bed was smaller than when we went the last time. We really enjoyed our stay as we had fabulous weather so we were able to go out and about more. But what we did like is the atmosphere which is very friendly and happy, most of the holiday makers were really friendly and the staff were lovely. The entertainment on the Saturday was excellent, better than some of our cruise experiences !! We saw Franki Valli and the jersey boys and the lead singer was brilliant, they were very professional and entertaining, I hope they do more gigs at Warners. The food is quite good and hot though not that exciting, but breakfast is always very good. The swimming pool and some of the chalets are a bit dated but it looks like they are updating these, and the outside area doesn't have enough chairs and tables and looks a little bare. But for the price we paid £139 for three nights it was still good value and we had great fun. Lots of laughter etc..

Room Tip: There are now new chalets called Harbour Suites although they cost more they are very nice, but if y...

been to several Warners several times, started well, had a bad time at Norton Grange, Booked for Lakeside last year, arrived on a building site! wouldn't have minded to much if advised in advance, yet a few weeks before due to arrive Warners offered upgrade (at cost) to new chalets, was tempted, glad we didn't as these were the chalets still being built and worked on. Enough of that though, staff brillant, food great, location good and weather fantastic

Room Tip: new harbour and bayside accomadation look great

I was delighted therefore to read that, in spite of your initial concerns about the building works, you have reported great quality of service and an enjoyable break.

Having booked a holiday at Lakeside in July I then developed an infection in my hip which necessitated the prosthetic hip being removed and I now have to live without a hip for eight to twelve weeks before a new hip can be inserted. As we had cancellation protection and a letter from my doctor we thought that we would lose £30 each and the rest of the £440 would he credited to a later holiday . Not so, according to Warners. They have taken £130 and we have to book a new holiday within the next three months. It would appear that the terms and conditions can be changed at will by Warners and the cancellation protection is absolutely worth nothing. Beware of this company . Their customer care is terrible. Never again. Ex- Concierge customer

We arrived by coach and on entering the village we were confronted with building site, metal fencing. There were plenty of signs apologising for the work being done.We and our friends were allocated Harbour Suite.Having viewed some of the chalets when passing we held our breath but on entering the chalet we were over the moon. They had recently been completely refurbished and were excellent.Okay we had building work going on around us but the workmen were friendly. We sat on the front patio and we ended up showing other residents our chalet. They were very impressed but not of their own.We were not told in advance of the work going on,which I understand will be going on for sometime, but this did not effect our stay as we had two day excursions and got on with it when we returned to the complex. The dining area was good, the food was good with varied selection.(buffet carvery or off the menu)Our waiter was Danny,he worked hard,he was very pleasant and obliging. The entertainment staff were very good and gave good performances. All staff were pleasant and helped when requested. We enjoyed the free flying birds of prey demonstration. When the whole site is completely refurbished it should be good, with close proximity to the beach.Thankfully we had wonderful weather,I would nt like to be there in poor weather due to the distance from certain chalets to the dining room.Perhaps covered walkways would be the answer. There were a number of sport facilities available but unfortunately we didn't
have time to use them.

Room Tip: The Harbour Suites are very good and worth booking, having been refurbished and close to the dining r...
