Stayed here on a business trip and found rooms to be large and comfortable, but with some maintenance issues. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice.

Overall better than a soulless travelodge or Premier Inn.

Dear Reviewer,

Your positive review was appreciated, especially your generous comparison against a competitor hotel. Often it is only when guests experience unsatisfactory aspects to their stay that one received feedback. Not so on this occasion…. I am very grateful for your note.

I was made aware of the maintenance issue you reported at the time and, of course, that failure has been rectified.

With best regards,
John

Stayed in this hotel on the valentines special on 16th of feb. This hotel offers five star service and five star food in a three star hotel. The rooms are exceptionally clean and the staff are fantastic. Lady on reception is so helpful as is the bar man who also served the food. Breakfast was lovely I even changed my choice of breakfast at the last minute and this was not a problem. A special thank you to all from us

Room Tip: If you are concerned about traffic noise ask for a room at the back

An older hotel with a kind of dated charm. The room are small and the first one we got didn't have a proper window, just the kind you expect in a bathroom. When we complained (which I normally don't do) we got another room without any fuzz. Parking is a ample but you have to walk a couple of yards.

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for posting your helpful comments on Tripadvisor following your visit to the Imperial Crown Hotel earlier this year.

I was extremely sorry to learn of the disappointment you experienced with your original allocated bedroom but was pleased to read that an alternative one was arranged without fuss. The Imperial Crown is a typical old town centre hotel which was originally a coaching inn and where no two rooms are alike.

My team and I look forward to welcoming you back on a future visit to Halifax.

With best regards,
John

Stayed for 1 night on a business trip. Very convenient location as literally 1 minute walk from the train station & 5 mins walk to office area of Halifax. Check-in experience spoilt by key(s) issued to original room not working twice (no lift so had to carry suitcase up/down several flights of stairs twice). Success at 3rd attempt when key to new room (109) worked first time, though by this stage receptionist was so embarrassed by the situation she personally escorted me to the room, offered to help with luggage and made sure key no 3 worked.

Room was a bit small for a double and furnishings/decor rather dated. Frosted glass on window, so no view. Very noisy fan in bathroom. Only 1 bath towel & 1 hand towel in the bathroom, but this was more than sufficient as there was no hot water when I wanted a shower in the morning. Disappointing response when I reported this to reception, ...we'll get someone to look at it, when what I really needed was access to a shower with hot water.

Had a room service evening meal in my room. Though choice was limited, food was excellent and restaurant staff were flexible enough to let me add a dessert from the restaurant menu. Breakfast in the restaurant in the morning was fine, all hot food was cooked to order, so need to factor this in if you are planning on a quick breakfast.

Room Tip: No lift so ask for a room on a lower floor if limited mobility.

Dear Reviewer,

I do appreciate these very helpful comments following your short stay at the Imperial Crown Hotel, Halifax. However, there can be no excuse for the difficulty you experienced with the key-card to your bedroom door and I extend sincere apologies for this problem.

I have taken the liberty of sharing your kind remarks relating top the food with my team but at the same time, of course, have highlighted the mishandling of your hot water complaint. Needless to say, this shortcoming has now been rectified.

Once again, thank you.
With best regards,
John Mason

The room was very small and very worn. The bathroom was worn and although appeared to be clean - the standard of upkeep gives a perception of dirty. Room was noisy....could hear televisions in other room and there was an odour of "old fryer/kitchen vents." Didn't feel particulary at ease in the bed as once again, the general standard of up keep gives a perception of "not very clean." The shower just about dribbled out and took twice the time to have a shower due to this. Food was unappealing, greasy and once again, one is put off eating by the whole general perception. Times are hard, we all know but for the price paid, some serious investment is required.

Dear Reviewer,

Firstly let me apologise for the inordinate delay in responding to your review.

I read with despair of your wide disappointment with the Imperial Crown Hotel when you stayed last year. Although this hotel is a historic Edwardian building I am sorry that you found every aspect of the old building and, of course, its operation so unsatisfactory.

My team and I studied your report in depth and have tried to rectify all the shortcomings you highlighted where possible. Maybe, we shall have the opportunity to welcome you back when in Halifax again and hopefully glean some signs of improvement in a future review.

With best regards,
John

.............of the bedrooms as the room I was checked into was nowhere near the standard portrayed by the photos on their website which I based my decision on as to which hotel to book into.

The "service" at breakfast was poor, especially considering that I was the only customer at 7.30 on a mid-week morning.

Dear Reviewer,

I humbly apologise for the oversight in not responding to your review sooner.

I am sorry that the website image was found to be misleading… that certainly was not the Hotel’s intention.

The tardy breakfast service was reported to me at the time and you may be assured the employee responsible was duly reprimanded on your behalf.

Thank you again for taking the trouble to submit your note.

With best regards,
John
