“VERY NICE 3 STAR HOTEL”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2006

We stayed at the Imperial Crown Hotel this weekend with a coach party, and must say after reading the reviews we were a bit worried. We found the hotel very comfortable. OK the room we had number 213 was not very large, but big enough, nice comfortable clean double bed, nice clean bathroom, and probably would rate the room 3 star. The stair carpet was repaired in several places and the stairs goes off in several directions tothe various bedrooms. There is no lift so this would be a problem if you are disabled. The staff were very nice, the food was good, apart from no fried eggs for breakfast, just scrambled, which I found a bit dry. Excellent bacon and sausages. The reception area which acts as the lounge as well is small but has a lot of character. Nice bar area, but again small. The hotel l is just a short walk from the town centre. If you want to book a night on New Year's eve I would suggest, like any other hotel or restaurant BOOK IN ADVANCE.

On arrival at the hotel we were pleasently suprised, we booked late for new years eve off the internet as we just wanted somewhere different to spend new years eve. However the pleasently suprised soon vanished... we were quoted 50.00 for the room on the net but were informed that this rate is for the annexe across the road called Hughes house still part of imperial.... when checking in we asked about booking a table for the restaurant in the evenng only to be told it was shut but we could have a sandwich! as they had a new years eve function on but we had to pay 40.00 pp more if we wanted to attend... we had no choice other than starve as majority of local places booked up on new years eve and at this time of day we had no chance so we attended the dinner dance.....APPAULING, the restaurant manager is so miserable he needs customer service training..... the rooms are terrible, very small, the bathroom u couldnt swing a cat.... if you have rooms 212 - 220 u will be awake all night as passing traffic by your windows during the night, please when checking the site dont be fooled by the pics....nothing like it when u get there...carpets thread bare, very unhelpful staff, musky smelling, bar closed unless you go to reception to ask someone to get u a drink....:-/ defo will NOT stay there again...... worst hotel experience ever. Oh and by the way the Hughes hotel has 15 bedrooms and is an overspill of the imperial...No american diner as stated on internet that was closed 2 1/2 yrs ago. If you wanna try the imperila for yourself after reading this GOOD LUCK!!!!

we booked a number of rooms, unfortunately we were allocated the worst!
it was a double and should have been a single!!
one of the bedside cabinets had been taken from wall leaving holes in wall, the curtains didn't fit properly, a red light from a taxi rank opposite was on all night reflecting off the wall and door, and the outside noise!!!!!
the bathroom had mould in the sealings around bath and shower cubicle and the bathroom was very small.
the saving grace was all the other rooms were fine.
the hotel could do with a spruce it looks very tired.
staff lovely and breakfast was fine. would possibly stay there again but definately not in that room 111

Staying in Halifax @ corus was definitely an experience. Our room had a huge hole in the bathroom door and the windows of the room had no latch.
There was a wedding downstairs which blared music until 1 am. At least it finished when it said it would. Breakfast was fine apart from music from the Prodigy @ 9 am. Not what you need in the morning! Staff were very friendly and service was faultless, but management need to put some money into the hotel to revamp it urgently.
