“Waste of Space”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

This used to be a great place to chill out and shop. Now, there is hardly anything there and nothing much happens. When i was younger it was full of quirky and interesting shops but now there's hardly anything open.
It is so tragic as it is such an historic beauty. I think the council are to blame for destroying it.
Worst thing about it, is you have to pay to use the dirty toilets!

“Great place for a quiet lunch”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

Whilst working in Halifax, I really enjoyed nipping down to the Piece Hall for lunch. It's a nice spot to sit in the sun and read the paper. Could be improved by removing all the other people, but then again, what couldn't?

“Boycott peace hall!!!!!!!!”
Reviewed 21 February 2014

Whilst it is true that the peace hall in halifax is a very good place to relax on a hot summers day, it is far from great!!!!
For too many year's the shop spaces have been shabby and the rent has been immensely over priced by the local council, (nothing more than greed!!!!) As a result the shop's that are set up, or rather were before the building works began) are over priced and can not offer value for money. During the summer months special events are held such as a motorbike show whereby people turn up with all sorts of different motorbikes. I myself am not interested in these event's and am offended that I was expected to pay a £5 to enter the peace hall with my girlfriend in order to have breakfast at our usual cafe, that at any other time we could walk straight too with no charge.
If the local council had spent the time and money years ago with the upkeep of the building, bringing the shops up to spec and charging affordable rates for the shop spaces, this new overhaul would not be necessary now! Hell if the place was expensive before any renovation works god only knows how extortionate it will be when it's finally completed!!!

“Piece Hall”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

The Piece Hall is one of the best places to go and read a book in the summer or just hang out with friends when it's sunny. They have an excellent range of shops my favourite being Sweet Memories. The only issue I have is the events they put on during summer. In 2011 and 2012 they hosted Gay Pride which my friends and myself enjoyed going to very much, it was very upsetting to find out that the Piece hall were not hosting it again in 2013 and obviously not in 2014 due to building work. I am upset to here that they are building on such an old beautiful building. As I am a Historian I believe this is taking away some of the beauty of the place. But everyone should get themselves down to the Piece Hall.

“Historic monument”
Reviewed 29 November 2013

I visit the Piece Hall regularly being local. As far as history is concerned it is well worth a visit being the last complete remaining cloth hall in the area. There is a good visitor centre that hosts art exhibitions in the gallery (many local exhibitions) and the staff are well informed friendly and helpful and will tell you all about the history of the building and surrounding area. There are excellent cafes within the courtyard with indoor and outdoor seating. In recent years however it has become a bit of a white elephant with the local council being unsure how to progress with it and the shops housed within the hall have mostly closed although the ones that remain are excellent for gift shopping for unusual and arts/crafts merchandise. There are regular markets throughout the year as well as special events that are worth attending. At the time of writing it is due to close for refurbishment as there are some expansive plans for it which will bring it up to full functioning capacity and will also restore it to magnificence if the artists impressions are anything to go by. Will be interested to see the result
