“Fish & Chips for pensioners”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

Whilst I expected, and was served, smaller helping of chips and mushy peas, I considered the
miniscule, flat piece of fishtail insulting.
Does the management really think this is what pensioners eat?
The service was slow, several of the coffees served to our party were cold. Staff also came to reclaim teaspoons from the coffees.
Not a howling success!

“poor service in a packed pub thats believing its own publicty”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2014

Not a good night - there was a party of ten of us and we wanted to relax and have a good time. We were very disappointed. The bar staff couldn't cope with the numbers . It was very busy but it wasn't a friendly atmosphere . Everyone was complaining about waiting, or getting the wrong thing. When the food came it was passable for pub food - but nothing special. And over priced in my opinion. Shame.

“Our special day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

We certainly were impressed. We only had 16 in our wedding party, so we booked in for the normal tables. They set us up in the back room with privacy from the pub. The food was excellent and brought very well presented. They kept coming and bringing us drinks too. 5 star loved it

“Passable, but not cheap for pub grub”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

The first drawback was to be told by the host what wasn't on the menu - this limited our choice substantially. We ordered drinks which took some time to come and yet the place wasn't very busy. The food was OK (though again quite a wait) but nothing special. I have to say, a burger (picked by the absence of alternatives) at nearly a tenner is overpriced. The drinks, too, were overpriced - a small glass of wine was, I think, £4.50-ish. I really don't mind paying for good food, wine and service but compared with other local establishments this was a let down.
