Have re-discovered the Duke of York in the last 6 weeks and so glad we have. We have eaten there during the evening, on a Saturday and for Sunday lunch and each time we have not been disappointed.

The food is great, and the service is great with extremely helpful staff. Try it and I know you will not be disappointed and as far as it being cold which one reviewer stated, we did not find this at all and the fire was roaring on all occasions.

We will go back soon

I enjoyed a great meal with my family in the cosy restaurant area. The open fire is a nice touch, especially on a rainy day! I tried the homemade mushroom soup, which was beautiful and really full of flavour. The steak pie was also very tasty with veg and big chunky chips. Great food and really generous portions.

The Duke of York has been revamped recently. This includes real fuel fires (which are really cosy), as well as electric effect fires on the walls, making the whole atmosphere a warm inviting place to be.
I would say in the past when i have been, the bar and restaurant has been a little dated, but now it is much more with the times and a good place to chill out.
All our meals were to a high standard and of a reasonable price, the manager was very accommodating and bar staff pleasant.
The extra touch was the Chef coming to out table checking that everything was to our satisfaction (nice touch)!!
So all in all i think the Duke has been turned around and i would recommend it to all!!!!!
