Living in West Yorkshire I had visited Halifax several times over the past few years but had never visited the Minster till this last year. Its pretty grim from the outside but you can be sure of a warm welcome from the volunteers who give their time freely to help people see this beautiful old church. The windows are beautiful and so are the many plaques to the long gone of Halifax.

I recently visited Halifax Minster for the first time. It is small but very beautiful. It has some of the loveliest stained glass windows I have ever seen.

There were some charming and helpful attendants who were very willing to explain the architectural details. In addition there are posters charting the history of the Minster and its surroundings.

If you are in the Halifax area I would say the Minster is defintely worth a visit. You will be made to feel very welcome. There is no entrance fee but, of course, donations are appreciated.

Visited the Minster with some friends from overseas tracing their ancestors. Unfortunately it was difficult to find a time when internal access was available. Looks interesting from the website information.

There were several people on duty to welcome visitors, answer questions, provide a free guide leaflet and staff the shop. We felt most welcome, the minster is very interesting and there was also an art exhibition on at the time we visited. The toilet was immaculate too, and the shop had a good variety of gifts and cards. I bought some "Holy Socks" as a present for a vicar friend.
