Very warm welcome from Adrian on reception. Good sized room with everything we needed for our stay. Spotlessly clean. Extractor fan in bathroom a bit noisy but went off as soon as power switched off. Ideally situated for our requirements and handy for Halifax town and also M62.

Just returned from a night at the Premier Inn, Halifax South. Having booked for only £29 it was excellent value for money. The downstairs rooms are different in that they are almost like entering a terraced house. The bathroom in room 7 contains everything you need but is a little smaller than we have experienced before. There is ample parking and the continental breakfast was good value for money. What let it down was a kind of drain smell when using the wash basin in the bathroom. The slow speed of the water, as it drained away, was a clue it was a drainage problem and on mentioning this to the receptionist, as we were leaving, she said they were aware of the problem. Once this has been rectified - would recommend.

stayed for 1 night after attending a wedding in the town. Very slow check in but the girl was friendly and was on her own which at check in time was surprising. Another member of staff sat in the unused meeting room eating Macdonalds which did not give a good first impression.
Room was very small and hot, but it was clean. We had lunch at the pub / restaurant which was good quality and served quickly. The Duty Manager was friendly and attentive.
Breakfast the next day was terrible, slow service, miserable staff, dirty cups, lack of items, we continually had to ask for simple items such as bread and clean cups. Breakfast took over 45 minutes to arrive and when it did it was aveage. To be honest skip breakfast at the restaurant and go to Mcdonalds over the road.

Generally pretty nice, but it depends on the time of year! Just around the corner is the sewage plant and sometimes the stench is pretty dreadful - doesn't make it into the rooms, thankfully!

The rooms are always clean and tidy, beds comfy and in general it's one of the better 'cheap' hotels in the area. Some minor reservations:

1). The attached pub food is pretty standard, high-calorie, ping cuisine. Tolerable but not exciting.

2). TV is limited - not the full host of freeview channels but flat screen which is nice compared to many.

3). Sounds daft but turning in and out of the carpark is a nightmare! I've spent 10-15 mins in rush hour waiting to exit the car park!

Otherwise it's fair value for money and the staff are very nice.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms are (strangley) bigger and lighter, get one of those!

We used the trains to get to Halifax and travel about once there on our four day walking break . Takes about half an hour to walk from the rail station and town (passing Ossett's Three Pigeons pub on the way so not all bad)
It is a bit hilly though with Salterhebble Hill leading down to the hotel quite steep . The hotel is what we've come to expect from Premier Inn. Helpful staff, clean well decorated room, and a large comfortable bed. At the £29 we paid very goood value too. It's set back from the busy Huddersfield road and although there was some road noise not enough to disturb us. Our room looked across the narrow parking area to the canal with it's moored boats. A pleasant fifty minute walk along the tow path brings you to Sowerby Bridge. We ate one night in the next door Brewers Fayre restaurant. It was OK but we wouldn't bother again. Would definitely consider staying at the P.I though .

This is definitely one of the better Premier Inn's throughout the country. Set by a nice little canal which is very calming and peaceful and it's only a 5 minute drive into Halifax town centre. The food at the nearby restaurant/pub is questionable but apart from that I couldn't really fault the place. The gentleman at reception was also very polite and helpful.

Friendly staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds. Brewers Fayre on site for meals, or the cheap option is McDonalds opposite. Nice location nNext to a canal, I think it would be too far to walk into Halifax,as there are a few hills on route! Only down side is the road noise, but that's O.K. with the double glazing as long as it's not summer and warm, and you don't have to open the windows.
