We went to Shibden Mill with friends (a party of 6) to celebrate my birthday. My husband & I have been before with family, but not for a couple of years. Obviously as it was our choice of restaurant we hoped it would be as good as our previous visits- & it didn't disapoint.

Our table was booked for 8pm and when we arrived we were asked if we would like to have a drink first or go straight to the table.

We were taken upstairs to the restaurant and introduced to our waitress.

All the staff were very professional, and courteous extremely friendly.

The food was absolutely delicious.
Starters
5 of us had Pan Fried King Scallops, truffle Dauphinoise potatoes, braised beef shin, samphire and Barolo sauce- we all agreed it was delectable.
My husband had Salad of Loch Duart Salmon, Yuzu tartar & home cured, pickled cucumber, lambs leaf, passion fruit & dried chilli- really tasty.
Main courses
2 had Rump of Local Spring Lamb, caramelized sweet bread, bacon, rocket puree, pea and broad bean- they both agreed it was lovely.
I had sirloin steak, potatoes and salad- wonderful- perfectly cooked- I can't remember what it's description was as it was on the spcials board!
2 had Round Green Farm Venison Rossini pigeon pate, crouton, dock pudding, burnt onions,
balsamic & Madeira jus- they both loved it, so much so neither offered me a taste!!
Finally 1 of us had plaice- again from the special board, so I can't remember the description- he really enjoyed it.
Desserts
1 x Baked Chocolate Fondant Pudding kitchen garden strawberries, balsamic & pink pepper corns
2 x Lemon Tart meringue, pickled gooseberries and ginger biscuit crumb- absolutely scrumptious
2 x Peach & Vanilla Sugar Tarte Tatin, Salted toffee sauce & blueberry arctic roll
1 x Gourmet Menu of Yorkshire Artisan Cheeses- Served with homemade chutney, oat biscuits, celery & Eccles cakes
Tea & coffee served with home made truffles.

Our meal couldn't have been better. I had a lovely birthday celebration & we all agreed we would definately be back soon.
I would quite like to go for lunch on a sunny day and make the most of the nice outdoor seating area to take in the pleasant surroundings

Booked for a Sat night, 3 people and a dog. A table was reserved in the downstairs bar area nicely tucked away in a corner. On entering, warmly welcomed and shown to table. All the staff were smiling and efficiently working in a busy place but made us feel at ease in a 350 year old authentic pub. The food was fabulous, locally sourced and cooked to perfection. All the staff, the atmosphere, and the enjoyment of the meal means we will definitely be going back soon. Well done everybody.

Been going fairly regularly over the last 6 months and have to say have not had an a concern or complaint yet. The food is brilliant and very reasonably priced when you compare it against 'all' those other establishments churning out pub grub and frozen mexican whatevers, etc. Real ale, lovely surroundings and a charming old world atmosphere with staff doing their best whatever the circumstance. The attention to the menu's and creative approach of the chef (kitchen staff) I love, think the food is really very good and if you live locally its worth a try out for a welcome change! p.s driving out of the valley on the last visit a badger ran across the road in front of us, never seen one before but dont know whether it was part of the experience??

We had Sunday lunch at Shibden Mill Inn, a beautiful old English style country pub. On arrival the Black Sheep draught beer was excellent. For starters we had the Scallops which were cooked to perfection, the Bouillabaisse soup was also thoroughly enjoyed. We all had traditional roasts, beef and pork, We asked for one rare and one medium and they both arrived as precisely that, the portions were generous and the vegetables were very fresh, including the delicious creamy mash. Our only complaint would be that we would prefer the gravy served separate on the side. Deserts followed of treacle tart and lemon tart which were divine. Good value for money and reasonably good service. We even had a take away from their shop of homemade muesli and some black pudding!
