“Good customer service, rooms and location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2010

Had a 2 night stay in a refurbed room. If you want quiet ask for room 108 which is at the back of the hotel. No view but a great room. As you enter there is a little dressing room with wardrobe, mirrors etc. Large bedroom and large wet room with excellent power shower. The only negative was the wafer thin pillows. Lots of choice for breakfast. The cooked food was iffy with overcooked deep fried sausages and hard fried eggs (and we were the only ones in the dining room!) The staff are super friendly and helpful. Would recommend Julio's which is the italian restaurant underneath the hotel. Great food and customer service. Beware the one way system as the satnavs don't recognise them.

The service from all members of staff is unsurpassed, possibly the most friendly and knowledgable in the North of England. The rooms appear to have undergone refurbishment addressing previous issues with out dated furnishings. The food was great, cooked properly with a good variety.

One I would gladly reccommend to friends and family!

Spent a couple of nights in this very comfortable and clean hotel. It is very central and has a small parking area. We had a double room that faced onto the front street. It was quite noisy but it was a Saturday evening. It didn't really disturb us that much. The room was big enough with tea/coffee making facilities. It also had a TV with Sky Sports. The bathroom (shower only) was again clean and tidy.
Thee breakfast was plentiful and appetising with a large choice of cereals, fruit and a full english if wished.
The staff are very welcoming and extremely pleasant and are a credit to the hotel.
This is a lovely hotel and one I would have no problem recommending.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2010

Stayed for 4 nights on business. A great location and really interesting building. Had a car, which I always managed to get into the car park. I only needed it out one day - about 5.00pm, but I let Reception know first thing in then morning and they were ready and waiting with it when I asked for it. Brilliant. One day I needed something from it and it wsa no trouble to get to and retrieve my belongings. I only used the lift once and it was slow and small, but I had no problem withe stairs up to the 3rd floor. My room was a decent size, very recently refurbished I'd say as there was still a vague smell of paint - and I mean vague, not at all over-powering. Also the carpet was obviously very new. If I were to criticise anything with the room, it would be the shower which I struggled to get a comfortable temperature from, and the pillows which were pretty ordinary - not uncomfortable as such, but could have been better. My room was at the front - I heard the Town Hall bell, but it wasn't intrusive. The street-cleaners were out and about early, as someone else has remarked, but it only disturbed me on one morning. Breakfast was outstanding - no fatty bacon, eggs or sausages swimming in fat for half-hour under hot lamps here. Everything was freshly cooked - really quickly - and the waitresses were incredibly friendly, polite and cheerful. In fact, all the staff - from the Receptionsist, waitresses, night porter, "handyman" and guys who "managed" the car parking were first class....

Clean ,small Superior " room ...Pleasant cheerful staff , although the late evening attendant didnt really know anything about Julio`s the adjacent italian restaurant which has its menues on show at the hotel ...No problem though as I walked there myself to find times of lunch etc .

All in all a pleasant experience and would stay there again
