On arrival, we were greeted by Theresa, our hostess for the week, who quickly got us into the dining room for a sit down and welcoming cup of tea. After the tea, we were shown our room which was on the ground floor, the room and on-suite was absolutely awesome, spotless and beautifully decorated. Theresa is totally dedicated in making your stay something to be remembered, she does this so easily and I have only one question: how can you improve on perfection?

Room Tip: Speak to Theresa, who will help and advise you. All rooms are stunning.

We stayed for one night and oh, how we wish it was longer!

The first thing that stood out before even booking our mini-break was the many positive reviews on here. The second thing that stood out was after booking, we received a confirmation letter, information about the guesthouse itself plus the local area and a parking permit. This was a lovely touch and one that we would be very grateful for. After a somewhat stressful drive due to the bank holiday traffic, we arrived and were able to park straight away about 30 seconds away from The Weatherdene all thanks to being sent that parking permit! We were over 2 hours early for check-in so we decided to walk up into the town centre (about 5mins away). We have been to Great Yarmouth many times over the years, but it still holds a special charm that takes you back to your childhood.

Now onto checking in! We were greeted by Theresa with a smile and an offer of tea or coffee, we went for coffee and it was lovely- as were the little flapjacks that accompanied it. Theresa is definitely the best host we have ever encountered during our frequent weekends away- and never have we been greeted with coffee- it's the little touches that make it extra-special.

After finishing up our coffees, we headed up to our room (number 4) and it was even better than in the photos. The entire room was spotlessly clean and the bed was absolutely massive!! My husband and I could lay at opposite sides of the bed, arms outstretched, unable to reach each other. That bed and its pillows were incredibly comfortable!

Fast forward to night-time, we headed back to The Weatherdene at about 10pm so we could get a decent sleep as we had opted to have breakfast at 8:30am. 10:30pm or so and some other guests who were there for some event down the road in Caister (who Theresa had warned us about in terms of them being there every year and always getting back at silly o'clock in the morning) were pretty much shouting outside our room as they were taking photos of themselves before leaving for said event. Bless them, they were obviously excited- and not really a problem because we weren't yet asleep and we like to live by the 11pm rule (before 11pm, as much volume as you like- after 11pm, keep it very quiet!)

We fell asleep about 11:45pm- and what a wonderful sleep it was in that gorgeous, comfy bed... until 4:15am that is when these inconsiderate guests arrived back, tanked up and shouting to each other, loudly knocking on doors right outside our room "Roy? Roy, are you in there? I've got a bottle for you. It won't fit under the door. *BANG BANG BANG* Roy? Roy? Are you in there Roy?" This went on for about 10mins. Then when they eventually went into their rooms, we could still hear them- we would expect this from young guests- but not those who are clearly over 50 years old. Being so rudely awakened from sleep causes adrenaline to flow, so we couldn't get back to sleep for over an hour after, by which time the seagulls started squawking. So when we headed down for breakfast, we were exhausted and felt terrible.

Cue Theresa, who has already put fresh orange juice onto the table- bright and cheerful asking if we want cereal first or to go straight to the cooked that we had selected the night before. We went straight to cooked and it was absolutely lovely. I'm awkward and asked for scrambled eggs, which Theresa did for me. That lovely breakfast, wonderful coffee, orange juice, some great banter with Theresa and the other couple (John & Denise?) who had breakfast at the same time as us, aswell as it being warm and sunny so early on in the day helped alleviate the crushing tiredness. After breakfast, we went for a walk to see if we could find any free parking for when our permit ran out as we weren't heading home until the evening but we couldn't- so Theresa gave us another one (yet another lovely touch)

Headed back up to our room to shower (nice and powerful) and get ready to check out and make the most of our day. We had already decided we would definitely return- and whenever we go to Great Yarmouth in future, we will only head to The Weatherdene. Except we won't go May bank holiday weekend again, because those awful guests go there every year because of the soul night(?)

In short, Theresa is an exceptional host with a beautiful house which is wonderfully decorated, she has literally thought of everything and all the added extras which make the stay even more pleasant. You really won't get treated better anywhere else, how is this property only a 3 star? It deserves 5 stars!! £48 for one night in room 4 with breakfast for two is an absolute bargain, we'd happily pay a lot more for this. We can't wait to return later in the year!!

Room Tip: Room 4 was beautiful with a huge bed.

Well what can I say... we had the most warming welcome from Theresa from the moment she opened the door, Tea and flapjacks on arrival which warmed us up as it was FREEEZING outside! She has a wonderful place and very very clean, couldn't fault the stay at all! Better than a 5 star hotel in my opinion and breakfast was amazing, exceeded expectations with a wee galaxy caramel egg. We will be recommending you to our friends and family and when we are back in Great Yarmouth we will not hesitate to stay with you again. Many Thanks for making our stay a warm and cozy one considering it was horrible cold weather outside! Woof Woof from Holly, she enjoyed her stay as well x

Room Tip: We stayed in room 2 (twin room) it was lovely and quiet!

Stayed here for 1 night over Easter just for a little break! On arrival we were greeted with a friendly smile and tea and flapjack! Teresa quickly sorted us out into to our 3 rooms which we could not fault. Very clean with all facilities u might need, nicely furnished rooms, room 4 had a huge zip and link bed and I think it could have slept all 8 of us! Breakfast is chosen the night before and was served at a convenient time to us. Everyone catered for even small cutlery and plates for little people. Breakfast couldn't be faulted, all cooked well and tasted great, ask for 2 sausages as they are yummy! Location great, quiet area but close enough to everything.

Overall a great stay, free wifi so kids kept happy with utube and Teresa couldn't do more to make u feel welcome and comfortable, we will be back.

Had a great time at The Weatherdene again. Stayed 4 nights in Room 5 which was a lovely room overlooking the church across the road. Weather was very cold outside but the whole building was cosy and warm. Theresa (the hostess) was as welcoming as ever, with tea/coffee and biscuits on arrival and lovely fresh cooked breakfast each day. This is a particular good point for my vegetarian wife, as Theresa cooks quorn bacon and sausage with mushrooms, tomato etc for veggie breakfast!! When you leave its like saying goodbye to your sister. Look forward to returning again!

Room Tip: I have stayed in room 4 which has massive comfy bed, also room 5 which has comfy double bed and view...

This was the 8th time my friend and I have stayed at The Weatherdene for a boozy weekend in Great Yarmouth. Theresa the best host you will ever meet, made us as welcome as she did on our first visit. The standards have not dropped in the 5 years or so we have been staying, if anything they have gone up. The place has been redecorated, and small changes to the layout of the breakfast room are all for the better. Would recommend to anybody visiting Great Yarmouth. Theresa always has time to chat to all her guests, and will involve everybody that happens to be ion the room at the time. Now classed as such a friend, that we take her out for a drink on atleast one of the nights of our stay.

Room Tip: Can not really comment as have only stayed in the twin rooms, but have never heard anyone complain.
