I would firstly like to say a huge thank you to all the team at the Midland for making our short break in Great Yarmouth so enjoyable. The manager provided a wealth of knowledge regarding the local area. The food was home cooked and served with a smile. I have to confess that I was dubious about booking this hotel having seen some of the reviews of here. It was amazing value for money. I feel that the reviews have been unfair. People are so quick to complain and moan, yet, never praise where it is due...... Well done to the Midland :) Thank you for having us. We will return. Lesley and Geoff Bishop.

Thankyou for your kind feedback. Guests are so happy to leave feedback when complaining, but rarely when when they have had a good stay, even when the hotel manger is always available to deal with any problems. I am pleased that Paul the hotel manger was helpful with his local knowledge, and you enjoyed the home cooked food. We look forward to you staying again, and please contact Paul, to ensure that you again have a peasant stay, thank you

Our group of eight were made welcome on the coach on arrival. However the lift only held 2 people @ a time so using the numerous stairs was quicker. Some of our party had been to this hotel about 10 years ago and found an improvement on the cleanliness in general. My single room was ok but did not like the mould on the bathroom carpet due to the shower! The toilets were very noisy as they used masserators. The food that was served 10 years ago was remembered as very good. What happened??? Very little choice. Bland in the extreme with little flavour or seasoning. Same desserts every day and not a drop of custard in sight! The hotel was, however, central to beach and shops and quiet at night. Cannot comment on the entertainment as we didn't stay in @ night. I would also tell chef not come into the dining room as much as he wasn't a very good advertisement to his culinary skills!!! Loved the trip but didn't like the hotel.

Thankyou for ffinding time to leave a comment. The hotel manager is always available to deal with any requests or problems, so that the stay can be enjoyed. The hotel normally receives just over 50% of the holiday total, we then pay 20% vat, what is left has to pay wages, N.I., holiday pay, insurance , business rates, waste collection, the lift to serviced and indepentley checked etc etc. and of course food and the entertainment. If you had stayed in for the entertainment you would have had a very enjoyable evening.

Just came back from my coach trip to Great Yarmouth. We stayed at the Midlands Hotel from Monday to Friday. I have to say for a cheap holiday the hotel was ok. If you wanted a five star holiday, you should pay five star prices. I don't get people who complain about everything when all they paid for was what they got. The staff, especially Paul and his wife couldn't be any more helpfull and pleasent. The room we stayed in was spotless and the cleaners where in your room to clean up everyday without fault. The only problems we had where with the cutlery and dishes weren't always up to standard. But after a word to the coach driver, a great effort was made to get that sorted out. And they could have had entertainment in the hotel every night of our stay, rather than just 2 night out of the 4. Overall would i stay there again?. Yes. I was happy with my stay and the price i paid for it.

Thank you for finding time to make a comment. I am pleased that you enjoyed your holiday, and that you would return. I apologise for the initial problems, but pleased they were sorted out promptly.
Entertainment is on 2 nights on a 4 night stay, because you didn't arrive until 7pm on the Monday, and then we leave the Wednesday evening free to enable our guest to visit the " Music Hall evening".

had 5 days at the Midland. Great location, two minutes from sea front and shops. Had a nice room with a comfy bed and a lift to all floors. Evening meals were ok but breakfast was disappointing for anyone with a big appetite, asked for extra bacon and sausage but was told no because there wouldn't be enough to go round (so that wasn't very good). They have entertainment twice a week, it's a nice hotel for a few days and we would stay there again.

We went and stayed at Midland Hotel on a 5 day coach trip with National holidays. It had three main ingredients that ensured we had a very enjoyable time. Nice travelling companions, Brilliant weather, and a well located friendly relaxing hotel with great staff. The hotel is not perfect, but top value. Like many hotels it is an old building and is showing it's age, although we found it really clean. For example a lot of places were you walked the floors creaked. The rooms were small, the shower could have done with a freshening up, and the toilet had a motor fitted to it so that when you flushed it made a loud running noise. Having said that the rooms were clean nice T.V's and Tea/Coffee making facilities. The hotel has a very relaxing TV lounge and a room with a pool table in and it was cheap to play. It also had entertainment on 2 nights, which was easy to listen to and not over noisy. However what I liked about the hotel the most was the restaraunt and the staff who worked in there. On most coach trips I have been on, the meals are get your own and queue up at slow dispensing coffee/tea machines. Not here; the only thing you had to get for yourself was at breakfast time were you had to get your own cereal and fruit juice. After that you were served at your table with the full English cooked breakfast, a rack of toast and tea and coffee served in proper pots pipeing hot. For the evening there were three generous courses from a good choice of a menu and finished off once again with hot tea or coffee. What made it even better was the food could not have been cooked any better, or better presented. Also the timeing of each course was perfect to make it a very enjoyable experience. The staff were efficient, pleasant, and nothing was too much trouble for them. If you fancy doing this one with National Holidays then my advice is go. We had 2 trips out, the last one on the Thursday, was a bit of a waste of time but the first one included a 90 mins ride on a river boat which was to my mind something special. To conclude: The staff made a good holiday into a great holiday.
