Len and Michelle are very welcoming hosts. Nothing was too much trouble during our very short stay. My Mum recovering from hip surgery was very well looked after and the lounge was turned into our dining room for breakfast instead of her having to negotiate the steps into the dining room downstairs. Much appreciated. Our rooms, numbers 2, 3 and 4 were very spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was superb with great choice every day and all freshly cooked. Unfortunately we were only booked for 2 nights as we were visiting for a family wedding. Look forward to returning again some time preferably during better weather. Oh well can't have it all!! Thank you Len and Michelle for your hospitality from the Bishop family and the Hardings.

Room Tip: Room 2, 3 or 4

we enjoyed our stay. We booked in as a last minute getaway after a dreadful holiday in Bulgaria, we were a little wary as we generally stay at 5 star hotels: but we were very pleasantry surprised.

The hotel is a little dated and is work in progress as Len and Michelle would agree, they haven't owned it that long and these things take time.

One reviewer said the bar is only open for 15 minutes which is completely wrong: it is open for a pre dinner drink between 1645 to 1700 hrs it is then open at 2000 - 0000 hrs for residents.

Breakfast is between 0800 - 0900 and comprises of fruit juice your choice of fruit, yoghurt or cereal then a 5 item cooked breakfast (which is cooked fresh) with toast, tea or coffee, we certainly didn't need any lunch! Whilst the menu suggests 5 items for a cooked breakfast, Michelle is very flexible and will include anything else from the very comprehensive breakfast menu on request. Other guests staying, had dinner also and were very impressed with menu and quality of the food.

At the moment Michelle does most of the work herself, as Len works away most of the week so she cannot be in two places at once! But will do all she can to help if required. She was very friendly and helpful and as I have problems with mobility: offered to serve my breakfast in the residents lounge so I didn't need to go down stairs to the dining room/bar area which was most helpful. Our room was very clean and tidy with tea & coffee facilities and a fabulous, large, flat screen tv.

Give the Corner House a chance I don't think you'll be disappointed. We will definately stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the two downstairs rooms if you have mobility issues.

We only booked in for one night but the quality & the cleanliness of the room together with the friendliness of the owners, Michelle & Len, encouraged us to stay another night. The breakfasts were excellant & well cooked. There was so much choice. The hotel is situated close to the main promenade but is so quiet & peaceful you'd think you were in the countryside!

We would recommend this Hotel to everyone. It's great. Well done Michelle & Len & your hardworking daughter too. Hope to see you all again sometime.

When I arrived here I immediately felt at ease, which is rare for me as a regular travelodge user. This is not a palace, but a comfortable, lived in hotel. All areas of the hotel are clean and tidy, well decorated and comfortable. Although some parts are a little dated, Len and Michelle are obviously working hard to update and make this a more modern hotel.
The room was large and airy, scrupulously clean with a comfortable double bed and more wardrobe and drawer space than my room at home! The ensuite had a large shower cubicle with endless hot water and a modern toilet suite. Again this was scrupulously clean. With a good TV, clock radio alarm clock, free wi-fi and the largest hot drinks selection basket that I have ever found in a hotel, I was more than happy. On top of this, the room was serviced daily.
Michelle is friendly and approachable and makes an excellent breakfast. The choice for breakfast is worthy of a much larger hotel. Pastries, toast, kippers, smoked haddock, and full English are among the choices with cereals and juices as well. I had a cooked breakfast every day and it was consistently good quality and grilled rather than fried.
Access was not a problem. I work into the small hours and was given a set of keys that allowed me to come and go as I pleased without having to bother anybody.
The only down side was the strange smell in the entrance area, but this was not exceedingly offensive, more a symptom of an old building and really didn't bother me.
I had expected Fawlty Towers and got an excellent small hotel and 4 good night's sleep.

Room Tip: There is a Grosvenor Casino around the corner
