This has to be the worst place I have ever stayed anywhere in my entire life. We only just about managed one night, then we made a very early departure, even forgoing breakfast. The place reeks of stale smoke. EVERY room has a sign on it stating designated smoking room and OMG don't you know it. You could smell it the moment the front door opened and no amount of plug ins could disguise it. (Why do smokers believe a bit of air freshner makes all the difference???? It doesn't). I asked to move from the first room we were given, to what we were told was a newly painted room that noone had been in for weeks. However this made very little difference at all. The stale smell was in every pore of the building and furnishings. TRULY NASTY. My 10 year old felt sick and we were dreading returning in the evening. In hindsight we should have just left. we kept the window open all night in minus temperatures but struggles to sleep. The decor was dated and tired. One good thing, the bed was comfortable however you couldn't pay me to stay there again. I am AMAZED at reading the other reviews. They are either all smokers or have no sense of smell. Its true, you pay for what you get in life. We paid £60.00 for one night. Its not worth 60 pence. HORRIBLE.

Hi on first reading your review we were absolutely mortified, in the seven years of running this business we have never received such negative comments. Then I read your review again and some things just don't make sense, you said that your daughter, and these are your words felt sick through the reek of cigarette smoke, you checked in early afternoon, hadn't paid in advance for your room, Great Yarmouth has over 200 alternative hotels and guest houses at least 40 within 500 metres of us, you also went on too say you were dreading coming back at night, I'm sure I wont be the only person who wonders why you did, we're not Guantanamo bay and have yet too take anyone hostage.
You have every right to say whatever you like about us as an establishment on Trip advisor, but you even felt it necessary too review the other people who've taken time too review us, dismissing their comments as from either smokers or people with no sense of smell. We also have reviews on late rooms and eviivo through our booking site if you'd like too go on that site to rubbish their comments.
Kind Regards
Trevor

What a great place. Our family love coming to this hotel all 11 of us. Trev and Sue are a fantastic couple and little Molly is a delight. Trev and Sue make everyone feel welcome. We have been coming to this hotel nearly every year (either for short breaks or weekly holidays) over the last 10 years. The breakfasts are magnificent. It is a great place to stay and we would highly recommend it.
See you again soon - Keith & Bev Lomas plus the rest of the gang.-

Room Tip: great value for money - all rooms are clean and in excellent order.

Booked a 2 night stay for myself, the wife and 7 year old.
Internet price was £120, telephoned and price was reduced to £113, which was even better.
Honestly didn't expect much for the price, but was pleasantly surprised.
Smoking is allowed in all rooms, but despite this there was no smell of stale smoke anywhere.
Rooms were clean if maybe a little dated (room 8), tea, coffee and hot chocolate in plentiful supply and the family room even had a mini fridge for my pepsi max :-)
The breakfast was probably the biggest I've ever had in any b & b, very tasty and well cooked.
Well located close to the front and the shopping area.
We'd stop here again if we return to Yarmouth.

Thank you for your review, since you were last here we have decorated room 8, we weren't keen on the colour either but we have now had the opportunity to do something about it. Not much we can do about the artex unless we do extensive plastering of the rooms which ideally we would like to do but it's not feasible. Thanks again for the review it's great to have constructive opinions to help us improve our business and your experience.

On arrival there was a very warm welcome, the food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the owners. The room was top notch, very clean and well set out. I hop to go there in September this year 2012 for the beer festival at the The Mariner's and the maritime weekend, as we had a great time there last year. Before we even knew it the time had passed us by so we had to leave unfortunately. I was amazed at how close it is to the town so we had no need to use the car at all.

The Silverstone House B&B is a perfect place to stay. Our room was cosy, yet uncluttered. We were worried about the rooms smelling of stale cigarettes (with smoking permitted within rooms) however, this was not the case. The breakfasts are hearty and are cooked to order.
The location of the place is one of massive advantage. With shops and the town centre 100 meters away, and the beach and sea-front, 200 meters. If that!

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it. We would also like to thank Sue for having us!
