Came across this place at the end of a walk down the prom during a day trip to Great Yarmouth. Good choice of cakes and scones, and the tea was lovely. Luckily had enough cash to pay as there was a problem with the card system. Loved the fact that it is dog friendly and will be downloading a photo of our dog for their collection!

Great place to sit out on the covered seating, looking out to sea with a cup of tea and a bun. Highly recommended

Decided to eat here as we were quite hungery and it was the nearest to us after being at pleasure beach. We ordered 3 english breakfast egg bacon beans sausage and mushroom sat outside on the beach side which was quite nice. The food not so our breakfast came on litrally a child's school dinner plate impossible to cut your sausage as your bacon would slide off your plate as everything is crammed in. Tbh we should have realised it wasn't a tearoom or expect to much when we were greated by a waff of chip fat smell but with 2 hungry children we had no choice. The bacon was unedable riddled with flabby fat and more salt than the sea next to us ! My advice would be to keep walking and eat elsewhere

Thank you for taking the time to write your review & providing further information (directly) about your experience.

Its disappointing to hear that things didn't go as we expected, after the event we can only apologise for this. Had we known about these issue at the time of your visit or when we asked whether everything was to your satisfaction, we are sure that we would have been able to satisfactorily rectify some of your issues.

Having reviewed our CCTV footage, one of your meals was indeed served up on a plate smaller than we would normally use for a bespoke traditional breakfast ordered with extra items on it. This was a genuine oversight when serving up your meals, and not the norm. Please accept our apologies for this.

Regarding our bacon, we did have an issue with a small batch of our locally sourced butchers bacon on the day you visited, but this only related to some of the bacon being cut thinner than usual. For the short period before our butcher replaced the bacon with their usual high quality standard, we were having to cherry pick the best bit to cook. We were not aware that there were any issues with the bacon being overly salty or fatty (we did try it), so can only apologise that it was not to your liking.

We notice that you had a similar issue with bacon at another seafront establishment, saying it wasn't crispy. Due to the extended cooking times & the majority of our customers taste requirements, we don't normally cook our bacon so that it is crispy (it can however be cooked this way on request), therefore as you didn't specifically request crispy bacon (we have checked your order details on our till system), it is slightly unfair to criticise on this matter.

Regarding the 'waft of chip fat smell' you comment upon, you failed to mention in your review that you only smelt this as you walked passed our open kitchen door, nowhere else. We do use fryers filled with vegetable oil in our kitchen (as do most catering establishments of our type), but we regularly clean them & refill them with fresh oil (this was done the evening before in this instance) as well as having a very good extraction system that removes the likelihood of any cooking smells from the kitchen going into the customer dining areas. We feel that we have done everything reasonably practicable to keep these smells away from the counter & dining areas.

Ultimately we accept that we were not perfect and could have improved your experience on the day...once again, we apologise for that. We hope that you will visit us again the next time you are in Great Yarmouth.

Sara's tearoom is a nice little tea room.
Very friendly service
Good portion for breakfast.
Good selection of meals
Clean and tidy.
Only one criticism would be that the table layout is squashed slightly but does allow wheelchair access.

First time in Great Yarmouth. Will be back though

We visited here twice, once for a main meal and once for breakfast. The mains came out quickly and hot, and although we were part of a big group the food was brought out together. Everyone found the food really tasty, and although my jacket potato was slightly undercooked for my liking it was ok and the portions were good. No probs here, everyone happy! A smaller group of us returned for breakfast and had early bird breakfast. Even though they didnt seem particularly busy it took over half an hour for our food to come out, (I know its not their fault but we had paid £10 for 4 hrs parking and were keen to get on) and then parts of our order were missing, although these were swiftly brought out when mentioned. Im glad we were there in time for the early bird because the only extra item offered on the normal breakfast advertised was a sausage, no tea and no toast and cost an extra 50p, not great value for money. Would return for a main meal but not for a breakfast, cheaper places in yarmouth that give bigger portions and just as tasty, shame!!
