Decor needs updating, bar tariffs way too high, rooms are small & dingy and also require updating. The service by the staff however is spot on. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to be truthly honest but is ok if nothing else avaliable. The positive side is there's ample parking avaliable with no restrictions.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, following your recent stay with us.

We have an ongoing maintenance programme across our hotel group and agree there are some areas which need upgrading, however we pride ourselves on the level of service and hospitality provided and which does help us to overcome this and your comments are certainly reflective of this.

Many Thanks

We arrived at 5pm and checked in. There was no hot water in the room and the heating was not on even though it was a cold evening. I asked the reception to turn the heating on. After a meal and a walk we returned to the room and watched TV with our coats on as the heating was still not on. We had a cold night and woke at 7am quite cold so I asked reception again at 7.30 for heat and it was then turned on, a very uncomfortable night. The front window in room 300 had two large cracks in it and the windows throughout the hotel were filthy. The rear bathroom window frame was rotten and you could easily see the outside through the holes in it. Someone had put selotape over the hole to try and block it, paper peeling from the walls, cupboard door knobs broken off, paint peeling. This hotel and others like it are the reason our seaside towns are dying.
Breakfast was good, beds are clean and comfortable, TV freeview was good, staff are nice, car park private and right outside.
Stay again?? NO.

Room Tip: Another hotel.

Just spent a fantastic weekend at the Nelson Hotel in Great Yarmouth. Everything from the welcome arrival to the friendly departure was great.

Room clean and tidy, food excellent, bar service great and all the staff are friendly and welcoming.

Will book again.

Room Tip: Try and get a sea view room if you can.

If you're not worried about decor then I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Maybe we're easily pleased but we booked a family room for the night, the bedding was clean and beds very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and serviced our requirements perfectly. There were more than enough tea, coffee milk sachets in the room which I often note are lacking in many hotels and the receptionist advised that the hair dryers were old in the rooms and they had more available if needed in reception. In fact she said if we needed anything at all to please ask, which okay, you might expect in any case but she made a point of saying it. Receptionist was very helpful and friendly overall, we slept lovely and had fab views of the seafront. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Yes the decor is very tired indeed but I felt that everything that should be right and could be right was and hopefully they'll be able to see to any refurbishments over time, they need the business surely to be able to do this and based on our stay I thinks they're definitely worth a punt!

To say our room was scruffy and tired is an understatement. It was tiny, badly in need of a major makeover and hot as hell. None of the windows opened as they were too old and broken so there was no movement of air. In a nutshell the rooms were a shock after seeing the lovely pictures on the internet. However there were positives, like the sea views, clean bedding and clean bathroom, all be it dysfunctional one as the shower squirted water in every direction and water poured all over the floor. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The dining room was lovely and the breakfast was first class and went a long way to making up for the poor quality rooms.

Room Tip: Apparently they hotel is a working project and we were told that some rooms have been renovated. Ou...

I stayed here for one night on a business trip, and had the last available room. Paint was flaking from the walls. A hole in the skirting board had been filled with toilet paper, and the room was old and run down. When I got into bed I realised it sloped in 2 directions. But all this I could live with if it wasn't for the constant banging of pipes. There was a loud bang every 4 seconds although this did stop for a while in the night. I told the manager about this, but he was well aware of it and said it was because the building is old...

As a birthday treat for my wife I decided to push the boat out and book the Abigail suite at the Nelson hotel for 4 days @ 100 gb pounds per night . I expected a clean reasonable hotel at this price and as it was situated perfectly on the front with a sea view paid up front . All I can say is the staff were top dollar for friendliness On arrival my heart hit the floor as we gazed in astonishment at the water cascading through the electric lights in the bathroom ,I reported the fault immediately and thought oh well accidents happen, this thought started wearing thin the following morning after a terrible nights sleep the water was STILL cascading down and no action had been taken. Upon examining the mattress we were horrified to see its condition it was so badly stained I would have been ashamed to throw it in the skip . The furniture from the sitting room would, if I had my way follow the mattress . To sum up needless to say we stayed one night only and would never ever stay in this flop house ever again .I have photographs to prove all is true
