Stayed for 2 nights in July with my elderly parents and from the very first phone call to book, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The rooms were a pleasant surprise - as well equipped and clean as any I have stayed in and stylishly decorated and furnished. Bed extremely comfortable and sea views from the room superb. The restaurant had a good choice of dishes, probably a bit expensive compared to other places in Yarmouth, but well worth it, and a very nice wine list (the Sauvignon Blanc went down very well!) All in all a great place to stay.

Excellent service from both the reception and breakfast staff. Kids loved the fact that somebody asked them what they wanted for breakfast. Not a buffet bar in sight, great!

On the first night we had been put directly above a wedding party, we were sat in bed singing 80s hits! Didn't get to sleep until 2am. But they kindly moved us to a different room later on in the week.

Kids also loved the old fashioned lift. Don't ever replace it!

I know this is a review of the hotel, but I have to say something about Great Yarmouth...

Great Yarmouth was not nice at all. Beach was covered in glass and dog muck, and people with dogs obviously didn't care where the dog went. Pubs and restaurants are in a poor run down state. Which is strange, because there were plenty of people in them.

Quaint is probably the best way to describe this hotel. It has been in the same family since 1934 and retains somewhat of an oldy worlde charm about it. The lift is great, if you like the old style outer door and inner grille type lifts. I hadn't been in one for ages and chose to take the stairs after the first go.
Breakfast and dinner were both to a good standard and we went to the bar on the first night for a "quiet" drink. Luckily we wanted quiet as it was in a very strange shaped room with a TV in the corner that only the people in that corner could see.
The greenhouse on the front of the hotel overlooking the sea was nice, chilled and generally full. I don't really understand the disco lights though...
Staff were all pleasant, the rooms and the hotel were clean, the food was above average and getting out of the parking space was an experience...

The hotel is located away from, but not too far from, the bustle of Great Yarmouth, on the sea front and with a breakfast terrace with good sea views. Breakfast was excellent, with a choice of the usual cooked bacon and eggs, but also kippers, smoked haddock and Yarmouth bloaters. The serving staff at breakfast were particularly friendly, and so were the helpful reception staff. The lift was slow and idiosyncratic, but the bedroom and en suite facilities were spacious and airy. The bed was too small and too soft for our taste, but this was compensated by the general comfort of the hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were generally polite and helpful. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice and enough to keep us going for most of the day. The hotel's location is about 10 minutes from the main sea front with all the attractions, but this made it quite a bit quiteter at night.
All in all a pleasant three days stay.

We stayed at the Imperial as a family of three in one of the family rooms. The room was spotlessly clean but a little bit on the cramped side for three people. However, the space was adequate so no complaints.
The major plus for this hotel is the fabulous food and very pleasant and helpful staff. We can definitely recommend the steaks in The Terrace restaurant - absolutely superb and cooked exactly to your taste. However, if you want to eat in any of the two hotel restaurants it is advisable to book a table - this is because the restaurants are so good, diners who are not guests frequent the facilities. Breakfasts at The Imperial are excellent - waiter / waitress service - this is unusual as most hotels these days have self service breakfast. We are still undecided if this is a good idea or not. If you don't fire on all cylinders until your 2nd or 3rd coffee it could be a problem as you can't just help yourself to a refill 'as and when'.
We would definitely recommend this hotel and would certainly return again.

the staff here are very friendly despite having a poffessional feel about them. the only downside was that it could have been a little cleaner, having said this it was not dirty by any means.we dined in the cafe cru restaurant and found both the food and the service impecable.we stayed in the louis jadot suite which was great although we would have preferred a balcony it was not enough of an issue to spoil a lovly night in a beautiful hotel.
